Any idea on how to get those products to download and index?
It's possible that you have the resources but they're not indexed properly.
Before reindexing there are two commands to try:
Type update now in the command bar. This will check to see if there are any licensed resources waiting to be downloaded for you, or any updates to any resources you have. This may be enough to get the resource downloaded.
If that doesn't work type update resources in the command bar. This will to a thorough check of all your resources and make sure nothing is missing that is supposed to be there. This takes much longer than the other command, so give it some time to work (10-20 minutes), even if it appears that it isn't doing anything.
If neither of those work you'll have to rebuild the index. This is a bit more complex so try the other two solutions first, if neither works then report back for detailed instructions on removing the L4 index and forcing L4 to rebuild it from scratch (this can take hours).
I've had Logos 4 installed and working for a couple of weeks now. The initial indexing worked fine, I even added the Anchor Bible Dictionary and that was indexed properly (or so it seems). Last week, I purchased a few more resources. The sales rep then told me that the books were ready for download, so I closed and re-opened Logos. When Logos started, the indexer also started right away, but crashed with error : "Logos Bible Software 4 Indexer has encoutered a problema and needs to close." The "Preparing your Library" window is also open in the background. After I hit ok, the error disappears and Logos comes up. The new resources are not there however, not even the one I purchased on Saturday from the 12 Days of Logos sale. Any idea on how to get those products to download and index? I've started Logos pressing the Ctrl key (as described on the forum) and attached the log file.
You're getting a "System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation" error in your log file, and it looks like it's occuring when trying to set a registry key. Could you post your OS version as well? Did you install Logos as an admin user or a regular user? Did you install Logos in the default directory? You may have to contact support for this.
I know I've seen this particular permissions issue on this forum somewhere, but I can't find it even with Google search. AAARRGH!
Ah, yes here it is:

Scott says it's fixed internally and as of Beta3, at least if this is indeed the same error.
Hi Todd,
I'm running Windows XP, SP3. What is curious is that everything was working fine on Thursday, but not after my purchase of Friday. I installed the package as a regular user on my machine (although that user is a member of the Local Administrator's group). It is installed in the default directory :
C:\Documents and Settings\JMaurais\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4
Thanks for your help,
Jean
Does anyone else see this occasionally on these forums? I couldn't clearly see, nor access the log file.
Notice the overlapping text.
(using Firefox 3.5.5 in Win7 64bit)

Yeah, he must have used the Options button with the file upload, instead of the Attachments toolbar button. It does that when you upload a file using that method. I used to add extra space before writing when that was the standard way of uploading during the beta.
Strange, though, I thought they had removed that method of uploading files. But it's back, I see.

Sorry I have no further insight. You could call support about it.
Or if you're willing, try the beta -- I haven't had any problems with it, but that's no guarantee you won't, and the only support for the beta is on the forums.
I ran both commands but they both end up displaying "No updates available".
However, looking at my application log in Event Viewer, I found this message :
Blocked by access protection rule. Access to object \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2563254586-302033138-3423835682-1008\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\LDLS4.Indexer:j5bosqri.raq was blocked by rule Common Maximum Protection:Prevent programs registering to autorun.
So I guess I have some investigation to do that way...

This will be caused by Windows UAC, or by an anti-spyware setting. I suspect the latter, though UAC is one of the first things I turn off in Vista or Win7. Anti-spyware apps include many anti-virus apps that have protection set up for programs that automatically start with Windows.
Indexer needs to set this in order to resume indexing in case of shut down part way through the indexing process. If you have a way to explicitly allow the Logos4 indexer to start with windows, do that and try indexing again.
That sounds like virus protection software. McAfee?
Yes, I'm running McAfee...
Richard, what do you mean by Windows UAC?
UAC=User Account Control. Microsoft alleges that this helps prevent installation of unwanted programs. UAC asks about program installations every time you install a program. I find it just gets in the way of installing wanted programs.
I'm careful about what I download to install, and where I web surf. So I feel comfortable getting rid of the unwanted intrusion. YMMV.
Check your McAfee program for allowing the libronix indexer to make changes to Windows startup. I don't have McAfee, but there should be a way to do this, or else to prevent McAfee from blocking changes to Windows startup (temporarily).
Well, it was McAfee. I ended up temporarily uninstalling it and the products downloaded. The indexing is now running, so we'll see how it goes.

Rich, Jean runs Windows XP which doesn't have UAC.
[sigh]
Missed that little (no, obvious) detail in his post.
Does whip cream make humble-pie taste better?
Maybe Thai whipped cream would (we had a meal at a Thai restaurant last night).
