Upgrade older products I had unlocked

I am returning back to Logos after 10 years. I had the Scholars Library from 1998 along with several other package deals unlocked back then. I have the original install CDs from the year 1998 for all the software along with the serial numbers. I would like to add those titles to my Logos 4.0. Is this possible? If so, how do I go about doing this?

If you still have an account and remember the login then you can see what the Upgrade Advisor (Upgrade Now) may offer http://www.logos.com/. Otherwise I would advise going to Customer Support to get an account/login and register your purchases via the Serial numbers if necessary. They will then be recognised by L4.

You can crossgrade for $70 to get a minimal, but useful, number of core L4-only resources http://www.logos.com/minimalcrossgrade or you can try the Upgrade Advisor, but i think you may have to go to Sales to see what they can offer.

Thanks Dave. The stuff I have is from the older Logos 2.0 LLS system. I have the serial numbers, but no online account. I guess I will have to call tech support on this one.

An easy way to do this Jim is via Logos 3, provided your current computer is NOT using a 64 bit operating system (as you cannot install Logos 2 on 64 bit systems).

You could download and install Logos 3 and synch your licenses with the server.

If you then install Logos 2 and add the resources the way you did back in 1998 with those serial numbers to Logos 2, then Logos 3 would pick them up and add them to your Logos 3 licence. Synch licences back with the server, restart Logos 4 and you should have the licences in Logos 4. My Logos 4 is only on 64 bit Vista so I cannot check to see if L4 would pick up an L2 licence directly from L2 without going through L3. Does anyone know if L4 can pick up directly on new licensed resources added to L2 (after the initial L4 installation) ? Logos 4 should then pick up the latest available version of each of the resources for its own use.

By the way, its worth installing what you have to your computer, if I remember correctly your version had some titles that Logos lost the rights to, namely Barclays commentaries. I could be wrong but it wouldn't hurt to check.

These are helpful suggestions. I am curious if this will work because when I called into talk to Logos, they transferred me to a sales person who said I would need to upgrade to the Scholars Library 4.0 and it would cost $440. I asked about installing 2.0 and then upgrading to 3.0 and then to 4.0 and he said it would still cost $300+ something to upgrade that way from Logos 2.0 to 3.0. The best they could do is to offer a good sale price on the Scholar's Library basic edition. But I had already purchased the Scholar's Library and several other packages back then and would surely like to get access to those books again without having to buy them all over again. I'm pretty sure that Logos Libronix will not read the CDs from 2.0 as it is a different system. I hope I can upgrade them...

If you want the new resources in L4 Scholar's Library you will have to pay an upgrade fee for the newer package. If you only want to use what you already have then install L2 as mentioned and then L3 will recognise those resources and you can sync your licence with the Logos server. You will want to do this anyway because, as mentioned, you can no longer get Barclay unless you have an older licence for it.

If you install 2.0 and add all the books as you did originally, you can then download 3.0g and that will automatically recognize those same books and let you use them in Logos 3. Logos 3 will even upgrade the books to the latest corrected versions if they have needed to be editted.

If you install Logos 4 you can use the same books in Logos 4. There may even be updated Logos 4 versions of the same books and they would be automatically downloaded for you by Logos 4.

What Logos sales people are talking about is that the current Scholar's Library contains a LOT more books than did the Logos 2 Scholars's library and it will cost you whatever upgrade price you can negotiate to get both the additional books and the new Logos 4 standard package content.

At this point the Logos sales people may not be sounding too generous because they cannot "see" what titles you have by looking at the titles registered in your license. They would be able to do that if you got set up with Logos 2.0 as you used to have it, with all your books copied to the hard drive and unlocked, then installed Logos 3 on the same system, checked for updates and synchronized you licenses with the Logos server and created a user account at Logos.com

One way you could get an account started would be, after you get Logos 2 set up and operational with all your existing books unlocked, is to install the Nelson eBible DEMO which may give you one or two additional titles free and take you through the steps of setting up a Logos 3 account ID and license without costing you anything. Once you get that far then Logos sales should be able to "see" what you have and be able to tailor any upgrade offers more precisely to which books you already own. Just a reminder that Scholars then and Scholars now do NOT contain the same list of books. To upgrade to the Logos 4 Scholars you ADD books but you do NOT lose the any you already have, even if they are NOT in the current package.
