I have Logos4 on mac Gold edition. When I was shopping for a title on the logos website, I saw a prompt that said my title was included in Gold libraries.

Yes, the Exegetical Summary Series is a new addition to the base packages for Logos 5. This was added while other series were removed.

I am unsure what you are wanting to do, but it sounds like you are confused about how upgrades work. If you own a previous base package (i.e. an "L4" one) and upgrade to a new "L5" one, you keep every single book you already own. The only thing that happens when you upgrade, is that you gain new resources. If resources were removed from the new base packages, that only has implications for brand new users who purchase those base packages. For example, when I purchased my L4 Platinum base package, four months previous the BECNT had been removed. Too bad for me! [:(] Anyone who had purchased the platinum base package previous kept those resources.

For what its worth: I moved from L4 "platinum" to L5 "gold." Again, that only ADDED resources to my library, it didn't take any away.

Also… Is there a reason you haven't updated your software to L5? As long as your computer specs are appropriate, you should consider updating to L5. Even if you don't want to purchase a new base package (or minimal cross grade), you can run the L5 engine (which is free). In essence, it is no different than any other update (i.e. 4.5 to 4.6).

I went to L4 Gold 24 days before the L5 rollout. Lucky for me I keep the UBS commentaries forever :-)

As far as cross grading to L5,... as a new Gold user L5 Gold was gonna cost another 400 and I was not willing to pay another 400 to use the same Gold library I just bought....

Customer service proved unhelpful for folk like me, so L5 turned into something I just ignored.

L4 runs just fine... why would I want the hassle of learning a new OS for Logos?

L5 has lots of little feature improvements that don't require a base package. Install it for no cost from here: http://www.logos.com/installation

Keep in mind that some features won't be visible unless you add datasets sold as part of the L5 base packages.

The 400 dollars will give you new books and new features, but you don't need to cross grade to Gold. I went from L4 Platinum to L5 Silver. I also added the Minimal crossgrade to complete the feature set. I gained books and features and it was less than $200.

L5 is much like L4 in usage. It's not a complete redesign like the transition from L3 to L4 was. Think of it as L4 with more features.

You wouldn't be paying $400 to "use the same Gold Library." You would be paying for brand new books… the books that you already own you are given a discount for in the upgrade cost. Furthermore, you don't have to purchase a new base package. You can purchase a minimal cross grade (if you want the new features) or just use the free engine.

In all honesty, I don't understand the rationale that you shouldn't keep your software up to date (Logos or otherwise). L4 is no longer being updated, except for limited service releases. If you would keep up with the updates, you would learn a little at a time. If you don't, there will come a day when you will have to make a BIG leap because everything will be new. [;)]

I looked at Timeline when L5 released. It seemed like the software equivalent of a twitter post. Interesting, but mostly useless.

It ain't broke, so why fix it? Then again I still have an iPod on OS 3.x, because it works just fine the way it is. [:D]

Good news! You keep everything you have when moving to L5. Don't buy anything. Get the free engine for Logos 5 and keep everything you have. You will always be "Gold" to us and to Logos too!. I am enjoying my UBS Commentaries today!!!

As others have said, this statement is based on a misunderstanding of the system. If you purchase a Logos 5 base package you keep all that you already own. Your customized price for the Logos 5 package takes into consideration all that you already own. This way you are only paying for new resources and functionality.

Again: You will never lose anything you own on Logos.
