Can't use Swiftkey Flow to enter text into notes on Android phone

I just tried to write some text into a note using the "Flow" features of the Swiftkey keyboard and it didn't work. If I press on each key individually it works fine.

When I slide my finger over the softkey letters the letters popup but nothing is entered into the text box within the note.

This is on an HTC Desire HD phone running Android 2.3.5 and Logos beta 2.4.6

Is anyone else using the same keyboard who can verify this?

Strange. I cannot reproduce this on either of my devices (Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 w/ Android 4.2.2) running Logos beta 2.4.6. Flow works fine in the note title and body. Is flow working in other apps?

EDIT: The Galaxy Nexus is running Swiftkey, The Nexus 7 is running Swiftkey Tablet.

Yes, Flow works fine in everything else I use

Hmm, Can you try turning off the beta editor in settings and see if it works in the old editor.

Turning off the beta editor enabled Flow so I can now use it to enter text into the body of notes as well[:)]

Looks like perhaps a compatibility problem, possibly either with that version of Android or something HTC/Sense has customized in their version. It would be interesting to know if anyone running a similar version of Android on a non-HTC phone experiences the issue.

It's an issue with Swiftkey on Android 2.3, it seems, sorry! On 4.x it seems to work fine.

I'm not sure it's a "problem" with Swiftkey or us, so much as it's not expecting what we're expecting (which creates a real problem for you, the user, of course).

Most keyboard makers only test against the stock Android (plain text) text box, since there's very few "editors" like ours in existence. Most editors that look different are just re-styled variants of the stock text box. To implement a "Logos Rich Text" editor that supports all the same display and functionality of notes as the desktop and other platforms, we needed to write our own from scratch. We follow the required Android OS API exactly (as far as we know), but third-party keyboards may rely on behavior peculiarities of the stock text box that aren't part of the official API. You may be familiar with how web pages relied on peculiarities of versions of Internet Explorer, and different versions would cause them to break.

It's a tough choice we had to make between possible bugs with keyboards and the ability to display user notes correctly. We felt it was worth the risk of providing users with the full notes functionality, while providing a "plain text" workaround by disabling the editor in the worst-case.

I know you're on Android 2.3, but for those reading who are on 4.0+, Google just released their Google Keyboard to Google Play and it works perfectly with us (in fact, it's what we generally test with). This is what comes on stock Jelly Bean devices like the Nexus 7 and Nexus 4, but it supports any 4.0+ device. It has very cool kind of "Gesture Typing" (like SwiftKey Flow and Swype).
