Odes of Solomon

I'm very reluctantly going to get the Hermeneia Odes of Solomon as a print book on Amazon. I would much prefer to have the Logos edition, but I have the Hermeneia set without the Continental bundle, and I'm not going to purchase the bundle in order to get the Odes. I don't know if this is something Logos has control over, but I think that Logos should know on those occasions when I would prefer their product but purchase elsewhere.

Dean,
I think the best you can do is send your remark to the Sales department - maybe they can do something for you. Here in the 'General' forum it may remain unnoticed by Logos.

Does the Old Testament Pseudepigrapha contain the Odes? I don't see them explicitly listed in the Old Testament Greek Pseudepigrapha but it may be there. They are also free here.

Steve, when the OP asked about the Hermeneia 'Odes', I understood him to mean the commentary which is part of the 'critical and historical commentary' series.

His problem is he had bought Hermeneia before it was upgraded and bundled with the Continental volumes as I understand it. He should be entitled to a significant discount if he called/emails someone in sales.

They are given in Charlesworth's OT Pseudepigrapha, but not that of Charles. However, the Greek version is in the OT Greek Pseudepigrapha. Hope that helps...I'm using the Android app...so at the top right hand side is the contents tab...this brings up the correct list of what is contained...whereas the dedicated buttons on the page only have a portion of it...does that make sense?

Those following the cross-reference Bible priority problem know that I have the Lexham English LXX prioritized for the Odes only.

I contacted the Sales department. Not the best service in the world--I was told that I could purchase the NT set for $599--seriously, why would I do that for one or two new books since I own the rest? The cheapest way for me would be to pick up the Bundle and get the Continental commentaries, as I would get a custom discount on volumes I own, but I don't wish to do that (I would get the NT ICC set over them). I'm very disappointed to have to purchase this from Amazon.

Odd that Hermeneia: Old Testament (39 vols.) and Hermeneia: New Testament (31 vols.) don't have dynamic pricing, when Hermeneia and Continental Commentaries (63 vols.) do.
I would suggest going straight to the top and e-mailing Dan or Bob directly (dan@logos.com, bob@logos,com).

I've just sent an email asking if either an upgrade or a dynamic pricing option are in the pipeline. If not, then at least I know to go ahead. Now if I just put out of mind the fact that a sales rep tried selling me a single commentary volume for nearly $600!!!! lol it would be almost funny if it weren't true.

For what it's worth, I was told by a Logos exec at one point that this is not in Logos' control, it is a stipulation of the publisher than the individual books of the set cannot be sold separately.

Logos is fortunate to have customers like you who go the extra mile to purchase books from their company. Sometimes it is beyond Logos' ability to help because of publisher issues. But surely they would want to help you buy from them, if they could.
I have only rarely been unhappy with customer service at Logos. Usually, they try to go the extra mile. Perhaps the sales rep was new, or perhaps he / she simply had no options to offer you with this resource.
I sure hope this works out for you to buy the resource from Logos as it would benefit you and Logos both.
