Study Bibles

Study Bibles are scattered through at least three types:

Bible
Bible Commentary
Bible Notes

It would make more sense for all Study Bibles to be put within the same type. I am not sure what is the best fit, but by having different types makes them hard to find with a single search.

There might be a way to construct a collection which would include exactly all your study Bibles and nothing else. Then you could use this collection in searches. Putting something like lang:en ANDNOT title:Greek AND (title:"Study Bible" OR type:"Bible Notes" OR ("study notes" AND type:"Bible Commentary") as the rule for the collection might do the trick. It works for my particular library. I included "ANDNOT title:Greek" to weed out "The Lexham Syntactic Greek New Testament: Expansions and Annotations" which has type "Bible Notes" but is not a study Bible. And the final OR clause is there to pick up the Open Bible which is type:"Bible Commentary" but I don't want every single Bible commentary there is, only ones that mention "study notes" in their description. There might come along some others in the future that meet this criterion, so that's why I did it with a rule rather than specifically including that book by dragging it into the + section.

I agree that the metadata is less than perfect. We just need to find workarounds until they get that cleaned up.

Like you, I'm not sure what I'd suggest as the best fit for all study Bibles.

Yep - I did this a week or two ago, but did not think about sending an error report till tonight. Thanks for sharing the work around - it is useful.

The best solution is to allow the user to reassign the type for their application. LOGOS can have a default return for each book, but allow me to change it for my purpose.

But can't that be accomplished by using static collections? You create the collection title that you want, assign the books to it, that you want and you can access them as a category. That static collection can then be referenced by a dynamic collection or any other type of search.
