Highlighting with touch screen?

Greetings,

I just received a yoga 11s for fathers day. I have a few questions.

1. Is there a way to go to reading pane without hitting f11?

2. Is there a way to highlight via touch, that is using the touch screen so I don't need my keyboard to select highlight color.

3. Is there a way to exit the reading mode without hitting escape.

Thank you foe you help. If these answers can be found else where please let me know.

I don't know about the yoga, but the Wacom stylus that came with the Microsoft Surface makes it easy. I highlight with my stylus then tap the Highlighting palette that I want to apply. Rather than use the reading mode, I saved a layout with these 3 panes.

If you hold your finger at the top of the display then a small box should drop down with a picture of the cover of the resource you are reading. hold your finger on that graphic and the menu should open which allows you to exit reading mode.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did set up a template with the highlighter palette at the top. I had to change the text size to make it more readable on my 11.5 inch screen. When I rotate the yoga in tablet mode I have plenty of text on the screen and easy access to the highlighting tools. This should make reading on Logos for hours on end more bearable (seminary student), especially since my office is in a unfinished basement. The problem that I am having is actually selecting the text with the touch screen. I know this is not a Logos issue. I will have to do some more research on adjusting how the touch screen responds to my touch.

I am not sure if I am sold yet on the touch screen with the Yoga. I think it would be better if Logos had some built in touch screen capability. Maybe we will see it down the road as the laptop market moves in the direction of touch screens and tablet/laptop convertibles.

You say you are having trouble highlighting with the touch screen.

I'm not sure precisely what is going on in your case, but is the problem that Logos thinks you want to "drag and scroll" whenever you try to highlight?

If so, I fear that you are wrong in your assessment that "this is not a logos issue." It seems to be very much a problem with Logos 5. If you are in scroll mode [Columns = None], and you try to select using the touch screen, it will refuse to select the text. Instead, it assumes you want to scroll.

You can get around this by switching to "1-column" mode, but then you are not able to highlight passages that don't fit on a single page . This is quite inconvenient for doing research.I understand that most people, if they could only choose one functionality, would prefer scroll over select when using the scrolling view. However, there is no reason to have only one functionality. Logos could put a toggle in the settings or they could support gestures to allow differentiation [2-finger swipe means one thing, 1-finger swipe means another, or any of several other options.]
