Reading books and taking notes
Looks like Ibooks on OSX Mavericks is going to be the best e-book and notes app I have seen. The ability to more than one book and, easy note taking that is synched.
Now tell me again why Logos can't do this?

Are You saying that one device is enough, or to still split up between laptop and tablet? I opt for the latter, specifically used up to 1 year old computer (preferably laptop, but it depends on whether You sit everywhere or not) with Windows 8 and license for just Word. (Excel equivalent from LibreOffice.) Complemented with a Nook HD 7" 8 GB or 16 GB tablet and the Logos app running on Android.

What are you talking about? Why is iBooks the "killer app" for reading and taking notes? Logos already has "easy note taking that is synced." From all I can see, the one "must have" feature of iBooks is the ability to see highlighted text as a note. I know this is an often asked for feature. But from all I can see, Logos is much more powerful… Or do you know something that I don't?

Reading a book is a pain in logos, both on laptop or idevice.
Taking notes is a pain as well and, seems to cause logos issues.
It's just not a good e-reader, thus all the posts about a Kindle connection in the forum.
The New Ibooks, if you notice, has column view note taking. It's designed for school work etc.
Im not beating up Logos. Ibooks cannot do the things Logos and Accordance can do. Yet I find it interesting that Logos and Accordance cannot seem to produce an ereader where we can simply sit down with one of the books we own and simply read with ease.The fact they cannot is why the longest thread on Logos ( or so it seems ) is about being able to port books to Kindle.

It's not the longest, I think Outdated and expensive currently is. The "Send to Kindle" thread You are referring to just has many posts - probably 90% of those already have tons of Kindle books and e-readers:

I know what you mean and certainly Logos was not initially created as a reader although it can be used that way. The send to Kindle feature would really enhance the Logos reading experience but, as I understand it, the notes feature will not work with it. So I still think it would be in Logos' best interest to create a better reader within Logos.

I disagree. This is actually a 2 issue situation - better UI for the reader and a better Display. Logos should definitely improve their reader UI. But nothing can beat e-ink display for reading.

As I reflect on this more perhaps I didn't say this right. [:$] What I ideally would like is a send to kindle feature with the option to take notes (the best of both worlds).

I agree it would be nice to be able to take notes when using the kindle reader... But the kindle reader doesn't really do that, and what it does do, it doesn't do well. The one exception I can think of, which is asked for regularly, is "quick highlighting." I think logos could add that feature as an option, but the Logos mobile app is MUCH more powerful in the area of notes & highlighting.

Another thing... The device which won't sync notes is the eInk reader Kindle... I have no idea what note taking abilities it has... But assume less than the Kindole reader.

Thanks for posting. I've actually never used a Kindle before in my life and the more I hear about the lack of note-taking features then more I'm not impressed with it. Anything I like to read I like to take notes on for future reference. The very act of writing it down helps enforce the learning even if I never look at it again.
I think what I really want is the easiest way to read a Logos book, take notes and to do it on a device that is easy on my eyes to read and small enough to be very portable but bigger than my iphone.

I have never found those screens on my iphone or iPad ( something wrong with me?)
I would like something like the ibooks reader for iPhone, iPad and OSX. I use my kindle app quite a bit too, but highlighting is about all the function I have/use there.
I use Logos everyday, however, there are times when I just want to sit down with a book and read, and if something jumps out, highlight, take notes etc. No big deal, just read a book comfortably.Blessings

The real reasons to use a KINDLE (non-fire variety) is for the eInk screen. It isn't backlit, and is "like reading paper." Things like highlighting are a challenge, because it is black & white and not backlit. It is purely for reading. Most of the time, I want to highlight... But there are some resources where just reading would be ok. If I could pick one up for $50 I would. I also happen to have Amazon Prime. There are a number of books which I could "borrow" for free, but only on a Kindle device.

The one thing I will give you, is that iBooks does have the highlight view. Logos does need to add it... But I am unimpressed with how iBooks highlight mode looks. Also, I have never seen this in iBooks for Mavericks, other than the screen shot above. In both Logos and the mobile app, you can have notes side by side with your text.

Exactly! Or an iPad mini with eInk or even better one that could alternate between a standard screen and eInk.
