Liturgy of the hours
Was wondering what exactly what this meant?
"This edition of the Liturgy of the Hours is without the official biblical texts for liturgical use. View the biblical text in any translation in your library or study along with the official Nova Vulgate."
I am thinking it means that it is like the lectionary ... in that it draws in the text from the preferred bible rather than re-writing it. But it must have it's own text for all the other readings, doesn't it?

I've wondered the same thing. I pray the LOH daily using the old-fashioned print edition (4 vols) ... a beautiful way to keep the Word in front of my thinking throughout the day. I'm trying to envision how the Logos edition will work. LOH is all about scripture (Psalms) with some prayers and intercessions. What is Logos actually delivering with this set?

Yes. The resources will contain all of the non-Biblical texts (antiphons, responsories, intercessions, prayers, non-Biblical readings, etc.), while Biblical text will be pulled in dynamically in the same manner as the lectionary.

I e it still won't be able to handle where the reading is supposed to begin with verse 2b, much less when a 'he' ought to be replaced by 'Jesus' to be intelligible out of context? (Yes, I know, that's the price for being able to read in Swedish. Just checking if you've found any solutions.[:)])

Correct. The Liturgy of the Hours (unlike the lectionary) has a substantial amount of non-Biblical text.
For the English, we have licensed all text owned by ICEL (or ICET), which includes: The General Instruction, Antiphons, Invitatories, Responsories, Intercessions, Psalm 95, the Canticle of the Lamb, Psalm Prayers, Non-Biblical Readings, and Hagiographical Introductions; texts of the Opening Prayers and Alternative Opening Prayers from the Roman Missal, and the Roman Calendar; Te Deum, Magnificat, Nunc Dimittis, Benedictus and Doxology.
The other Psalms and Canticles and Biblical readings will be pulled in dynamically from the Bible of your choice.
The Latin will be similar. All non-Biblical text will be in the resource. Biblical text will be pulled in dynamically.
We've updated the product page to spell this out a little more clearly.

The Latin hymns will be included.
For the English, we have only licensed text owned by ICEL. I don't believe this includes the English hymns.

That was just enough to raise my curiosity, but far too little to satisfy it.[:D] What progress will and will not come with the Missal?

We've created a data type to allow the Latin and English of the current Roman Missal to scroll together, and we're going to update the lectionary resource to include a link to the corresponding Mass prayers and antiphons in the Missal.
We're still working on a data type to support the liturgical calendar itself. The Missal follows the calendar in parts--so some of the work will carry over--but it has its own peculiar structure, plus a lot of non-calendar based material, which made it necessary to create a data type specifically for it.
