PC to Mac

I am seriously considering moving from my PC to a new Mac Air 256GB. Can I use my Logos 5 program on it and if so are there any issues I need to look out for?

I'm running Logos 5 on a MacBook Air as we speak, and it works just fine. I'm sure it would be even better on one of the new models. The SSD really kicks up the performance.

That's great news. Are you running any extra software like VMware that allows you to use a Windows platform? Would I have to purchase any extra software? Thanks for your help.

Richard, I'm a MacBook Pro user and have just ordered the new MacBook Air. I would strongly suggest upgrading the RAM on the MBA since it's soldered to the logic board and can't be upgraded at a later date. If budget is an issue, you're probably better getting the 128GB MBA with 8GB of RAM (and getting a cheap external HD if you need the storage space) than the 256GB MBA with 4GB of RAM - especially if you plan on keeping the computer for many years. If you're a frequent upgrader, it might not be an issue. That's just my two cents...

Thanks for that Paul. I had intended to upgrade from i5 to i7 ie. 1.3 to 1.7ghz. instead of increasing RAM. However I note that an extra 4Gb of RAM is only an extra $100.00 so given your thoughts, I might upgrade that as well.
Thanks.

Logos has OS X install => http://www.logos.com/support/logos5/mac/install and wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_Multiple_Macs
For feature parity, wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_and_PC_User_Interface_Differences#Feature_Parity that has several items to be removed after Logos 5.1 ships to stable channel.
Thankful for an Apple refurbished 13" MacBook Air with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB SSD => http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac
Noticed several 13" MacBook Pro models with Retina Display: e.g. $ 1,359.00 for Oct 2012 model with 2.5 GHz i5 (3rd Gen), 8 GB Ram, and 256 GB SSD => http://store.apple.com/us/product/FD213LL/A/refurbished-macbook-pro-25ghz-dual-core-intel-core-i5-with-retina-display and $ 1,869.00 for Feb 2013 model with 3.0 GHz i7 (3rd Gen), 8 GB RAM, and 512 GB Flash Storage => http://store.apple.com/us/product/G0PW0LL/A/refurbished-macbook-pro-30ghz-dual-core-intel-i7-with-retina-display that is $ 20 more than a new 13" MacBook Air with 1.7 GHz i7 (4th Gen), 8GB RAM, and 512 GB Flash Storage.
Keep Smiling [:)]

Hi Richard
Logos has a program version that runs on the Mac so you do not need to worry about running Windows and VM wear is unnecessary.
The advice about extra RAM is certainly valid for Logos users (and if you intend to heavily edit photos or film).
I run Logos on both an Air and an iMac and both cope just fine - I am sure you won't regret the move - very few do.

You MUST upgrade to more ram. You will need it and you can't do it later.

I used to have Parallels installed on my iMac, but I hardly ever used it except for testing purposes, so I haven't reinstalled now that I switched to the Air and have less space. For Logos purposes, it's far better to run native on the Mac than virtualizing the PC version.
And FWIW, I agree with the others here, upgrade RAM before the processor, it's more important.
