Hi Arthur - and welcome to the forums.
once you install the software and login using the credentials you used when you made your purchases you should be prompted that there are resources to be downloaded (assuming you are connected to the Internet)
are you seeing this?

Logos has Installation Guide => http://www.logos.com/installation
For learning Logos, wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Getting_Started_with_Logos with Tips that are usable in Logos 5 plus => http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_5_Video_Tutorials that has links to many Logos 5 video tutorials.

Hi Arthur,
Once you are connected to the internet, have started the program, and have logged into your account then things should start to download.
On a Mac that means that a small icon will appear in the top right of the screen. Hovering the cursor over this icon will indicate that Logos is either downloading or indexing. For a new installation this can take a long time running into hours depending on the speed of the connection and the computer's capability. It is not until both processes have been completed that Logos will function fully.

It is not doing any of those things, it briefly says synchronizing but then stops and proceeds to a completely empty library?

Are you able to post screenshots showing your main Logos screen and your library?
Details of taking / posting screenshots are at http://wiki.logos.com/Screenshot

It's possible the indexer (which downloads the files you need) is crashing. To help you further, we will need to see logs. Please turn on logging permanently and upload all the logs, as described here: http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging

Arthur:
I wonder if you aren't seeing anything on the screen and are concluding there's nothing in your library. I say that not to be condescending, but a similar thing happened to me years ago when I first loaded L3. It wasn't like any other bible programs I had used because I didn't see a bunch of things when I first launched the program.
Click on the second large icon from the left in the upper-left corner and let us know if you see some resource titles.
Again, please don't feel insulted if I have assumed too much.
