custom upgrade to logos 4

I have been looking at upgrading to version 4 and noticed that a new user is eligible for a 25% discount. I have been using and buying Logos software for a number of years so went for the custom upgrade for existing customers. When the result came back I found that I have only been offer 25% discount the same as a new user.

I have read a lot of posts on this subject and fully understand that I can't expect to receive full discount for the products I have already bought, but I would have thought I should get some sort of recognition for the items I have bought.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Assuming you've logged in to Logos with the same user ID you used to purchase your Libronix (Logos3) resources, and assuming that you have recently synchronized your licenses from Logos3, then the 25% discount you are looking at on the upgrade page is the amount you'll pay after giving you credit for your previous purchases.

You should know that all your purchases from Logos are being taken into account here (does not include purchases from Nelson, or other 3rd party publishers). We haven't been told the formula for calculating the discount.

One way to check is to notice the amount you'd pay for a cross-grade or upgrade, then log off of Logos.com and look again. You should see a difference in price. The amount is related to how what you have bought that intersects with the cross-grade or upgrade package.

Please note that the comparison chart on the upgrade page only compares packages, it does not compare everything you own (it seems a bit misleading in that regard). But that chart is not the basis for calculating your upgrade price. The upgrade price is calculated using a database of your purchases.

First, are you sure that you are only getting a 25% discount, or are getting a discounted upgrade price PLUS 25%? My upgrade price was 25% in addition to a special price that reflected my purchase history.

Second, upgrade discounts are offered for those who already have a base package in Logos 3 or earlier. If you never had a base package, then you probably will not see any additional discount.

You can always call customer service and see if they can do anything more for you.

Thanks for your thoughts. I did try doing as you suggested that is, logging on and checking my upgrade price then logging off and trying again. However, I am either asked to log in or create a new account. I did try a new account but then I was asked for my Logos software ID and if I had entered that I would have been back to square one or thrown out because my new account did not match the Logos software ID!

Are you both saying that discount is only offered against a base package? If that is so then it would account for why I am not getting any discount as I have never bought a base package only lots of other bits and pieces.

Yes, the discounts are for upgrading or crossgrading a base package. If you have a significant in other Logos products, you might try calling sales at Logos. They may, or may not give you a further discount. It's happened.

I would encourage you to consider the financial incentive to buy a base package as well. Even if you never use those resources you don't think you will, look at the ones you would like to have and compare prices. I think you'll be surprised at the tremendous bargain base packages are. Further, there is added functionality in base packages that simply aren't there otherwise. Finally, future upgrades (for version 4.5? 5.0? etc.?) and are likely to be built on base packages as well, so buying one now positions you for future savings as well.
