Logos 5.1 RC2: Gripe with Footnotes
Okay, so I use the SBL Handbook of Style for footnotes, since I like how abbreviated they can be. But, Logos does not footnote according to the SBL Handbook of Style (The Book). I own a copy of the book so I can say for a fact that Logos's new (and old) engine(s) do not footnote books quite right...specifically, Lexicons. According to the SBL Handbook of Style, Lexicon footnotes are supposed to look like this:
L. Kohler, "תּוֹשָׁב," HALOT 1712. (typically, the volume number is necessary, so if you use the 2 volume edition of this, which I own, it would look like this: HALOT 2:1712). (As seen on page 53-54, under 7.2.29). This type of citation would hold true for the TLOT, TLNT, TDNT, TDOT, NIDOTTE, NIDNTT.
For an Article in an Encyclopedia or a Dictionary:
Baruch M. Bokser, "Unleavened Bread and Passover, Feasts Of," AYBD 6:757. If the work has multiple volumes, the volume number that the article is in is important. (See SBLHS page 53, under 7.2.28)
For Commentaries:
For single volume commentaries in a series (the volumes are numbered within the series, such as the WBC, NAC, AB, and others):
Douglas K. Stuart, Exodus (NAC 2; Nashville: Broadman & Holman Publishers, 2006), 308. (See the SBLHS 61-62, under 7.3.9)
For Multivolume Commentaries for the Entire Bible by Multiple Authors:
Walter C. Kaiser Jr., EBC 2:380-381. (This is also for the New Interpreter's Bible Commentary. See the Student Supplement for the SBL Handbook of Style, page 4.)
These are just a few of my suggested fixes for the SBL Handbook of Style footnote system.

We are working to improve the citation information in Logos, and this is an example of one area that does need improvement. I will create a case for Development for investigation.
