Hi Mark - and welcome to the forums.
I just downloaded Logos 5. It is slowing down my computer
If you have "just" downloaded Logos it is probably indexing. This is very heavy on resources but it only happens when you acquire new resources. There is normally an icon indicating that this is taking place. Can you check whether this is what you are seeing?
In general, I wouldn't expect more resources to slow down the computer significantly. It would take longer for searches etc to complete.
So it would be good to work out what is actually causing this slowdown first.
What sort of computer are you running? What are its specifications?
How do I look at what is in library and delete those resources that are not needed?
To answer your specific question:
http://wiki.logos.com/Library__ shows how to access your library (it was written for Logos 4 and doesn't include all of the updated capabilities in the L5 library) and at the bottom of this is a pointer to how to "Hide Books" which removes them from your library and hard drive (they can be restored later if required).

What base package did you buy? What is the state of your hard drive? How much ram? What are your computer specs?
