Indexing?

I had the Christian Home library product, but I added the bible study base set and another 10-book set to the library at the weekend. Since then, my little hard drive light has been on more or less steadily, even when Logos isn't open. Surely the products aren't still indexing four days later..? I have no logos 4 symbol in my system tray, even when Logos is opening, so there's no way of pausing it if that's what it is. I don't see anything in the processes list which even looks Logos related and I've scanned for malware with no result. Could someone give me a steer, this is slowing my machine down quite a bit.

PS - don't know if it matters, but I have a 2.56 dual core, four gigs of RAM and plenty of hard drive space. Big Smile

If there's nothing in the systray it's not still indexing. You just added a lot of Data so it could be that Windows is defragging in the background. Or a virus scanner is scaning it all.

Right click your task bar and choose "start task manager"

The second tab in that dialog is "Processes"

Now click the CPU column to sort highest CPU usage to the top and observe what might be running.

To ensure that Logos isn't running click the Image Name Column to sort alphabetically and see if there is anything under L for Logos.

Another possibility is that you have given Windows permission to index the hard drive you installed Logos on and it is doing just that with your new material. Not likely, but that can slow things down.

In Vista and Windows 7, CRTL-ALT-ESC will bring up the Task manager. Under the Processes tab see if Logos4Indexer (something like that) is running. If not, then the trouble isn't with indexing. If it is, then after 4 days there is a problem. Let us know what you find.

Thanks for the replies - I eventually tracked the problem down to a couple of Stardock programs. Once I'd taken them out, everything went back to normal happily.
