Features that are Currently Available in Mac 4 Alpha, but Not in Logos for Mac 1

I'd like to start a comparison thread for folks who are considering upgrading, but aren't sure if they should yet. It may be helpful to see the features that they would gain by upgrading.

Basically, if there are any features that are currently available in the Logos Mac 4 Alpha, that are not available in Logos Mac 1, please list them here.

Since L4 Mac is still in Alpha, I believe this thread is a bit premature. An Alpha is not nearly stable enough for Bible Study, no matter what features are present.

Unless you're looking for a list of implementation nuance differences, this task is probably already fairly well handled by the list of features in the Logos 4 Mac forum FAQ (linked in my signature), which lists all of the major feature areas in Logos 4 Mac and whether or not they're available in the current alpha.

It's not enough to say "check out the features page for V4" because not all the features there are available now.

It's also not enough to say that "an alpha is not stable enough for Bible study" because an unstable feature that is available in V4 is better than missing that feature completely in V1.

Example: I upgraded because I was willing to put up with bugs and crashes so I could get access to the Biblical places and Biblical people feature, since I'm currently doing a study through Judges and those would be very helpful for that study. It wasn't until after I upgraded that I found out it wasn't there yet.

Then when I started searching the forum here, it seems like there are quite a few people who are asking questions like "where is X feature?" with the pat answer, "it's not implemented yet".

Maybe this is something Logos could do for us.

MANY people decide to upgrade based on a comparison chart... comparing the old version features with the new version features.

We could use a chart like that, with the new version features listed but grayed out until they are implemented.

With respect, it is enough because by definition an Alpha is not meant for regular use. If you purchased the Alpha to use ANY feature for study, then you did not have a clear understanding of Alpha software. The reason many keep asking "where is x feature" is because they are just learning, like you, what an Alpha product means. And some still have not figured out that when an window open with a blank screen and a message that says, "no view exists for this panel kind" that it means, "no view exists".

The list referenced by Cameron on the FAQ is the best place to find out what features are not yet implemented. If you want a list of features that are already here, then you can read the Release Notes for each version which tell you what features are available (there is a link to each version in the FAQ). If you need a list in one place, then you are free to compile the list from each Release and paste it here. The forum depends on you and me volunteering out time to help, so if you see something is missing and the information is there, please help fill the gap.
