After updating with version 4.6c, Logos 4 quit every time I tried to increase the font size. I'm still on Logos 4 because my hardware spec does not allow me to go to Logos 5.
Hi Frankie - and welcome to the forums.
Sorry to hear you are having problems. Are you able to enable diagnostic logging and upload logs as per http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging?
Alternatively, you could try contacting Logos Customer Services. Contact details are at http://www.logos.com/contact
my hardware spec does not allow me to go to Logos 5.
What are the specs of your machine?
Graham
My hardware specs is as follows:Hardware Model Name: iMac Model Identifier: iMac5,1 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 4 MB Memory: 2.5 GB
Software: Mac OS X 10.5.8

HI Frankie
Thanks for that - hopefully someone with Mac expertise will be able to throw some light on what is happening here.
Frankie - I think you might need to contact customer support by phone.
FYI - There is nothing about your hardware specs that makes your system incompatible with L5... The problem is that you haven't updated your OS. Is there a reason you haven't updated? You can certainly run 10.6, and perhaps 10.7 (but not 10.8).
Hi,
I've tried Software Update many times but each time its says, "Software Update doesn’t have any new software for your computer at this time". So I conclude (maybe wrongly) that's the maximum my system can go. I sure hope I'm wrong. And btw, I'm from Malaysia :-) so contacting customer support by phone is expensive besides the time difference. I think will also now write to Apple for their advice.

In the link I posted above you will find an email address for Logos Customer Services - worth trying that

As for your current issue, I think we need a Mac techie to take a look at your logs and advise. I'll see if I can flag one down for you. [:)]
HI Frankie,
Thanks for the logs. There is no crash in the Logos4.log file, and the error log is from yesterday rather than today. Can you repeat the behavior to get it to crash and post a fresh set of logs?

Welcome [:D]
The iMac5,1 models were released in late 2006 => http://support.apple.com/kb/SP28

Software Update looks for free updates. Upgrading from OS X 10.5 Leopard to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is not free.
ComputerWorld has Snow Leopard upgrade article => https://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9137147/Upgrading_to_Apple_s_Snow_Leopard_OS_What_you_need_to_know Wikipedia link => https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_X_Snow_Leopard Apple has Snow Leopard Support page => http://www.apple.com/support/snowleopard/
Logos 5 and 4 are resource intensive applications, which benefit from fast processor, graphics, and quick storage along with adequate memory; Solid State Disk (SSD) is noticeably faster than hard disk. For a number of Logos users on OS X, Logos 5 is faster than Logos 4.
Keep Smiling [:)]
So an upgrade to Snow Leopard is what I need. Hey folks, this has been very helpful to me and I would like to thank everyone for their input and kind assistance. I have just placed an order to Apple Singapore for the Snow Leopard DVD and can't wait to using Logos 5! Shalom.
Frankie - You should still post logs if you can... Whatever is causing your crash might be persistent to L5.
Not sure if I did it right but here it is:

As described at the beginning of this post, when I tried to increase the font size, Logos 4 quits, every time.

I think you did it right. [:)]
I know how to assess some problems, but this is beyond my ability and paygrade (I'm a volunteer [:P]). Hopefully Logos or another techie will be by soon... although it is a holiday weekend.

One option is email to Logos Technical Support => http://www.logos.com/contact with reference to this thread.
Noticed ESV is open to Matthew 1:1-1:17 with font size of 26.6666 and 1st John 2:28 with font size of 21.3333 so wonder about launching Logos 4.6c to a blank layout; wiki => http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Keyboard_Shortcuts_For_Mac has:
Sign In tip: launch Logos, then quickly press and hold command key until Sign In appears (release command key), then click “Use blank layout” and/or “Work offline”, followed by clicking Sign in
In blank layout, open ESV then adjust font size to see if crash repeats with one resource open. If not crash, then open more item(s).
Noticed Passage Guide, Exegetical Guide, and more Bibles were open to Job 42:1-2 while Text Comparison was open to Matthew 1:1-1:17 for five Bibles.
I don't know if I caught that right… KS4J's comments made me reconsider what you are trying to say…
Is Logos crashing for you every time you open it, or merely every time you try to adjust the font size? If Logos is crashing every time you open it, the issue may just be a corrupted layout. As KS4J suggested, loading to a blank layout and creating a new one may fix the issue.
alabama24,
You caught it right. Logos 4 crashes every time I try to adjust the font size. I also tried KS4J's suggestion i.e. loading a blank layout and offline, loading one resource and then adjust the font size. The result is inconsistent. Sometimes it crashes, sometimes it doesn't. Before updating to this this release, I've never had this problem. Could it be that v4.6c requires a lot of CPU power that my iMac can't handle?
I've since forwarded this problem to tech support too.

I can't image it so.

Logos developers appreciate set of steps that can replicate a crash. If can crash with fewer item(s) open, trying to isolate issue becomes easier.
Curious about OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard upgrade ? and subsequent Logos 5.1 upgrade ?
With L4, there are to many scenarios during which L4 crashes whenever I adjust the font size. But with just one resource opened, it is less likely to crash.
I have upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6.8) today. Similar crashings still persist. There are so many scenarios when this occurs: whether with one resource opened or two or three, L4 quits whenever I adjust the font size. I am planning to upgrade to the free Logos 5 core engine. Do you think it will help? Where do I get this core engine? Appreciate your advise.

I don't know… but it might. You should still update anyways.
Where do I get this core engine?
HERE is a link to the installation guide. If you have troubles, let us know. If the crash issue persists, please create a new thread in the L5 forum (there is much more traffic there).

Replicated Logos 4.6c crash on OS X 10.8.4 by opening to a blank layout

Same steps in Logos 5.1 on OS X 10.8.4 worked. Logos 5 Install for OS X => http://www.logos.com/support/logos5/mac/install
I received the Snow Leopard disc over the weekend and have installed it. Then I downloaded and installed Logos 5. Now all the problems with font size have disappeared. My iMac can't go beyond 10.6.8. So I will not be able to test Logos 5 on 10.8.4. Now I can smile again, really. Thanks so much for all who posted on this thread.
Glad to hear it. [:)]
