This is going to take a lot of bids at $100. I was initially in at $140, but people whined at that price and brought the expected price down to $100. Anticipating a LOOOOOOONG wait, but that's OK. It's already 102 years old. Won't make much difference if we don't get it for another 3 or 4 years.

I came across an article in the secular world about someone who had studied the volatility of "information" and "facts".  He became intrigued when he was asked to store successive versions of an encyclopedia set in his home on behalf of a library.  He was struck by how the versions grew in size.  This led him to examine the content.  I believe that the volumes were primarily of scientific facts.

He was surprised about how many of the articles were totally rewritten.  He concluded that scientific "data" aged and was greatly reduced in value after a relatively short period of time.  He expanded his conjecture to other collections and books and has attempted to generalize his findings.

    David,

That would be an interesting article to read. Any idea how to find it?

But yeah, while it would be neat to have the EB in Logos, I don't see a really practical use for it outside of checking references to this particular edition in other works. I'm in at $40 pretty much for the novelty of it.

Personally, I would value more a way to access Wikipedia through Logos, or to have them interface in some way for quick references. Maybe have relevant links show up after doing a search, or something to that effect. Having a way to dump your Logos research into Wikipedia easily might even help improve the accuracy of articles too.

True science stands the test of time. Newton's discovery of gravity is still reliable science. The compound H2O will always be water.Theories do not fare.so well. Much of our modern scholarship is only conjecture and those observations are open to misinterpretation.

    Bump

This Pre-Pub has stalled out just as Rosie predicted it would. $100 sounds like an expensive bid until you consider the size of the resource (33,940 pages.) Take another look at it:
