Downloading didn't resume after shutting computer off midway

My computer was downloading updates about 2 weeks ago. I shut my computer off 70% of the way through the download. Upon restarting my computer I had 277MB left. Its been two weeks now and I still have the 277MB left to download. Interesting enough today I had 355MB to download and it downloaded 17% and then stopped when I had 277 left. How do I get the 277Mb to download?:-)

in the commandbox type: update resources

Give it several minutes (and I do mean several) to do anything. When you type that command it checks your licenses against the server, checks what you have on your hard drive and then finally downloads what's missing. Again I say, it will take time.

I have left my computer on for 3 days multiple times in the last 2weeks. I know things take time. The funny thing was that it found the new update today and downloaded it but not the 277Mb that was leftover from 2 weeks ago when I shut my computer off half way through a download. And I have 200GB of space left and lots of Ram. If it found the new update of 80Mb today why didn't it find the other 277 that was left to be downloaded 2 weeks ago? If you say it takes time, Do you think I should leave my computer on longer than 3 days to try to find the server etc. ?

I can only speculate that the routines for automatically downloading the resources may not be fully active in the mac edition yet.

Surely not. At this point your best recourse is, I think, the update resources command. And for taking time I actually meant an hour or two. Certainly not days.

Thomas' encouragement to wait is related to the fact that it takes a while for the software to scan and compare your resources vs. what you're licensed for after you execute the "Update Resources" command.

As to the question of why it's not grabbing that remaining 277MB of resources: a copy of your logs would be most helpful. Without them, I can only guess at what the issue might be. I'd suggest starting the app and running the "update resources" command and then, when it has completed (whether it has been successful or not) posting your logs. There are instructions for log posting in the FAQ linked in my signature.

Surely not. At this point your best recourse is, I think, the update resources command. And for taking time I actually meant an hour or two. Certainly not days.

It shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes to determine which resources need to be downloaded. Additionally, the little blue icon in the menu bar should show up to tell you that it's working.

I just tested this by deleting a few of my resources and running "update resources". It successfully noted that they were missing and downloaded them.

Thanks for the quick reply and your work. I have a mac if that has anything to do with it, but funny now when i move the cursor over the blue icon it shows 1% of 280MB. Where as the last 2 weeks it showed 0% of 277. I can't find the update resource command?

You need to type "update resources" without the quotation marks in the command box and press "enter". (kind of reminds me of my unix days!)

Donovan, I was under the impression that hitting the <ENTER> key would select the top (last used) item on the list. In this case, since the option to Update is the last on the list isn't the proper action to click on the last item instead of hitting <ENTER>?

I just did that and it found 0 "New resources" and 0 "Library results" needing updating, and the icon still shows now back to 0% of 277MB after restarting my computer?

Looks like they all posted. I had all my resources download months ago, then had an update about 2 weeks ago. I stopped the download midway through downloading. Another update downloaded today but I still have in the icon 0% of 277MB to download even after "update resource" command, which showed 0 resources to download, I have enough space on the computer. It will find all new updates but it seems to not be finding the other 277MB that was left from 2 weeks ago. Probably just a bug I will wait til fixed.

You can click the command at the bottom, but if you type "update resources" and hit <ENTER> it appears to do the same thing as the others require more text. In other words, I am lazy and always look to cut out steps! [8-|]

Hey, I got it downloaded, God wanted me to pray first. Seems I, always learning that one. Im so self sufficient. I went over the icon and clicked cancel all. then the icon disappeared. 5 sec. later it popped back up but wouldn't download. I clicked "cancel all" again. Shut off my computer and then after it restarted the icon popped up again and then started downloading the other 277MB that was left from 2 weeks ago. Praise the Lord!! Thanks for everyones trouble shooting. I hope this helps someones else. :-)
