Logos 5 on a 30" monitor

I'm displaying L.5.1 SR-1 (5.1.0.0950) on a Dell 3007, 30" monitor. The ample screen real estate is just great!

However, when I start L.5, the window that opens is smaller than full-screen, so I click the maximize button. When I now open (say) a version of the Bible, the window fills 50% of the screen, on the left. If I now open a second Bible version, it opens in a new window which is only half as wide as the remaining screen. I have to drag the right window border so that the entire screen is filled with both windows.

Is this a bug, or am I missing a configuration issue? I would like the second window automatically to fill the right half of the display.

Wow! 2560x1600 resolution. That display must really look great!

Under Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display is it set at 100%?

Because L5 is written in .NET and uses WPF for display, the programmers need to add code to open at a particular default size. Some programs are programmed to "remember" window sizes and positions between sessions, but apparently L5 does not.

You could try this to partially address the issue:

1. Right Click the shortcut that you use to start the program

2. Select "properties"

3. Go to the "Shortcut" tab

4. In the drop-down list labeled "run", select "maximized"

5. When running the program, it will fill the whole display and be highlighted.

7. Hold down the "Windows" key, and press the "right arrow" or "cursor right" key.

Does that work? You can also highlight the running programs in the task bar with the mouse, and press "SHIFT" while "RIGHT-CLICKING" the mouse. Then select "Show Windows side by side". These tricks and #7 will work only on the main window if you have multiple instances running. I do not think they will work on child-windows, or windows displayed inside the main frame window. These are Windows Aero shortcut keys.

L5 may possibly have its own tricks for arranging and / or remembering child window locations. Unfortunately I am running Libronix 3 so I cant help you there ... but many others here on the forum certainly can [:D]

We have no control as users over this functionality. Sorry. Control over where resources open up has been much asked for.

Have you thought of using Layouts for tasks you repeat frequently? A layout will remember where you placed your resources. It won't let you designate a place for a new resource to open, but what was saved with be there when you reopen the layout.

This is a Windows issue (not a Logos issue). Windows remembers the position and size of non-maximized windows, so that when you open it again, it will open to the previous size. What Windows should do is remember that when you closed the program from a maximized screen, to open it to a maximized screen. This is how it works on my Win7 (64bit) system. Make sure Logos is maximized when you close it next time.

If you click on the layout menu, on the top left, you can select a layout scheme that you prefer. With a 22" Dell flat screen, I like three vertical columns. If the columns are too wide, I find it more difficult to read. But set things up as you prefer. I also prefer to return to where I was last time, so once I have it set up, I don't have to set it up next time.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I've tried the various, but nothing seemed to solve the problem. I've finally discovered that if I make the main Logos window slight LESS than fully maximized, the second window auto-opens to the maximum width (50% of main window).
