Logos 5 Stuck on "Preparing Library"

Logos will not open it has been stuck on "Preparing Library" for over 30 minutes. I have restarted my computer several times but that is not helping. The Logos Indexing icon is displayed in the lower right, but I get no progress. I have also paused the indexer.

I have Windows Vista. Logs are attached.

I really need to get Logos working today - I am taking a class through Knox Theological Seminary and have to take a quiz today. I was hoping to take it before church, but will have to take it after.

I'm not sure what happened, but Logos opened up and seems to be working fine. If I have anymore issues I will post them.

This has happened a few times recently. Logos aren't sure what's causing it, and are finding it difficult to reproduce. Restarting Logos and the indexer seems to fix it.

I once monitored what Logos was doing when I saw this reoccurring, by opening and reopening the LogosIndexer.log file every minute or two. I found that Logos actually was doing something. But letting Logos complete the task I stopped seeing this. It took a very long time, possibly much longer than 30 minutes (I didn't time it), but as I saw something was happening, I let it continue.

I don't believe any major program or resource update preceded this (which is why I was curious and 'looked under the hood'), Logos just decided to do it. I could only guess why.

When I 'looked under the hood' this way, I found that the indexer was taking a very long time to do certain things, and there would be pauses of 20 or 30 seconds (or more) between log updates. So reloading too frequently might not show progress, even if something was happening. Even though it was not running at a low priority (according to TaskManager), it was running as if it was.

If you can, you may want to let it continue and monitor it every few minutes to see if something is actually happening. If so, let it complete and see if that puts an end to it.

[All my advice here is purely anecdotal and may have nothing to do with what is happening on your end. But I thought I'd share my experience and suggest you investigate in case there is a correlation here. Hopefully, that's obvious to you.]

I also had this problem for a little over an hour. What I did was just close all programs and reboot my system restarted Logos and it was fine after that.

This may not help you but I think my system was just setting idle, so that is way I did that.

I too have had occasions when "Preparing you library" takes a long time to complete, but it is working. But more recently there have been occasions where simply nothing happens. As you said, examining the log file is a good way of seeing if it's busy. You could also use Task Manager (or better, Resource Monitor).
