Big improvement putting the forum list at the top and the mark forum read in the forum main list.
Now how about an icon that says which forums have new material?

I like it the other way around Kevin. I find myself scrolling down to what I've become accustomed to. [:S]
I guess it will have to grow on me.
That would be nice, but as that would have to reflect what is new for each user that would have quite the performance penalty. As getting the marking threads read to work correctly added overhead already, I don't want to add another performance harming improvement until I have had a chance to monitor how the growth goes over the next few months. I will add this to my list of requested improvements but no promises on when this one might come true.

Me too. I prefer to view all the threads with new material in all the forums intermingled, not jump into each forum and catch up there, then back to the main page and into the next forum, etc.
My work flow is this: First I go to the main forum page and click "Mark Forum Read" for all the forums I don't care about (Mac, iPhone, Español). Then I click the Unread link under "Recent Topics." Then I have to scroll down to see the "View More" link at the bottom of the page (maybe this link could be moved -- or replicated -- at the top of the Recent Topics section so we wouldn't have to scroll to see it?). Then I'm all set to whiz through the threads in forums I care about that have new material since I last visited. It's not bad, but it could be streamlined a wee bit. I also wish there were a "Mark this thread read" button to the right of each thread in this last view, because occasionally there are threads I really don't want to go into and read, but I don't want them to keep coming back at me as unread. My final step, after I've caught up completely, is to go back to the main forum refresh Recent Topics one last time to make sure nothing new came in within the last few seconds, and then click "Mark Forum Read" on all the forums I'm following (to clear out all those threads I didn't want to bother looking inside). There's some risk I might miss something this way, but I can live with that. There's already too much new content every day to truly stay caught up.
I don't care about (Mac, iPhone, Español).
Oh come on Rosie, we like it when you pop in the Mac forum and contribute (and even stir the pot) ... please care! At least care during this festive Christmas season! [:)]

OK, OK, if it would make you happy... Actually I did post in the Mac forum a few hours ago on this thread. But it wasn't because I purposely went into the Mac forum looking for relevant things to pipe in on. I was looking through my Unread filter at Regent Topics and it came up there. You know, I haven't been getting much work done since discovering the Logos forums so I need to limit myself somehow. :-)

I totally understand. On the old usenet style forums, I could read pretty much everything. On these forums, I have to concentrate my efforts on a few forums (Mac Alpha and PC Beta) and occasionally scan the rest. I have no clue how Bob keeps up on reading everything here. I can't unless I decide this is the only thing I am going to do!

I think you may have missed that the link of the header "Recent Topics" should duplicate the View More link from the bottom of the screen. (I was getting tired of scrolling too.)

Oh, that's right. I did notice that post and was using it for a while. But then I forgot about it when writing up my work flow. Thanks for the reminder.
