Seriously?? The Anglicised NIV 2011 will be unavailable in the UK?

So ... UK readers (and others) who read Anglicised print versions, will not have access to the electronic version of the NIV 2011, but readers in the US, who I'm guessing will read the US version, will have access.

I was able to buy the normal NIV 2011 without any problem.

I can understand that a publisher has certain territorial prerogatives. Maybe it's time for them to seriously reconsider the parameters at least in the light of the Bible.

Sometimes a publisher only has rights from the Copyright holder to publish in small parts of the world.

The groups with rights to publish the NIV and the CCC are so limited by the Copyright holder.

[There maybe others but those two have made lots of noise on this forum for that problem]

EDIT: this make NO SENSE the listed publisher is located in London and the last time I checked that was not in the US nor Canada

It's got to be a mistake. Surely the restriction is NOT in the US, and someone's put the wrong boiler plate text in. (It let me order it, by the way, which it usually doesn't when that message is displayed.)

These days folks wonder about the 'rightness' of licensing 'the Bible' geographically (the theory being that the good news is not country specific).

But this ignores the early OT where some prophets were licensed for Israel, while others were limited to the Judah 'prophesying' territory. Later on, the Babylonian market (Ezekiel, Daniel, etc) was completely separate from the Egypt market (Jeremiah, Elephantine, and so forth, indeed with evidence of licensing issues between the Jerusalem and Samaria temples).

One of the big surprises has been that Ehrman has successfully traced the pattern of NT greek varients to the Alexandrian market being co-licensed with Jerusalem but not Antioch, thereby generating what today we call the 'majority text'.

Canadian English is most definitely not the same as American English ....
