Learning from the Kindle: Notes & Highlights

Kindle's iPhone app really only does 3 things, and it does those pretty well.

  1. Sync
  2. Highlight
  3. Annotate
  4. Offline access

They hit on fourof the most essential functions for people who are reading on a secondary, mobile device.

The iPhone Logos app does #1 but even though #2, #3, & #4 are integral to L4, these are missing in the iPhone app, which has had me flip over to the Kindle reader even to access books that I have in Logos. I feel like a traitor doing it, but just wanted to voice my vote that #2-4 on the above list be prioritized for the iPhone app.

I'm using other software on my iPod touch because of 2,3,4. I have even re-bought a couple of resources which I already own in Logos.....

I have done this same thing.  The lightning-fast delivery of the books you purchase on Kindle has to be one of the hottest selling points.

If you are like me, I have become so "highlight happy" that there is nary a book in my proximity, that does not have yellow highlighting in it.

Using an iPhone.  Got Kindle for the PC and iPhone, hoping to "fill in the gap" with a Kindle for Christmas.

With perhaps a Christmas card from Jeff Bezos, with a year's supply of Kindle books.

I didn't write this to trump up the Kindle (though I like it), but to encourage Logos to cover the minimum features of the Kindle as priority development goals.

iPhone logos would blow competition out of the water if they covered effectively the things that the basic readers do.

    Precisely!  In total agreement.

I understood that. I don't use kindle. I use another program - which I politely refused to name. I also hope that logos will eventually provide what I need on the iPod touch so that they rather than another company gets my money.

Add my voice to the chorus, brethren. 2, 3 and 4 would be great.

Bob, please assure us again that they're coming. We older guys forget easily!

I too would really like to see notes being accessible on the Iphone App. I spend a lot of time making notes in Logos to facilitate better teaching of God's word to those I personally disciple. And my style of ministry is often on the go, where discipleship happens over meals or just randomly. It would be very beneficial at those times to have full access to my highlights and notes already made in Logos. This is no excuse not to memorize passages and know my stuff... But still I would be even that much more equipped with these great resources.

Please had 2,3, and 4 to the Logos Iphone App, for the sake of Kingdom growth!

All of these are planned. One is entering testing already, the others will follow after.

    I HATE tests.

But thank you for your attention to this.
