I noticed that when I open the highlighter pane, it cannot be resized . . . initially. If I add it to another pane (like PG), together they can be resized. Then, if I locate "highlighter" in another area, by itself, it suddenly is able to be resized. I also then noticed similar behavior (for my UK friends: behaviour) with panes like "CBV" and such. All of those open on their own either on the left or right side of the L4 "window." I don't know if that is connected to the issue.
I initially was wanting the highlighter to be as narrow as possible so that it would not take up space, but always be open as I flipped back and forth changing the styles.
What causes this behavior? Are they "hard-docked" in some way initially? Is it a bug?
Suggestion: I know Mr. Bob Pritchett has proposed some ideas for highlighting, but I don't think they have said this scenario that I think would be helpful: IF we had a highlighter mode (*alarms and flashing lights going off in Bellingham*), it would be nice to right click and have the various other "pens" available to you. Say you are doing Precept marking: your pen is "on" as you select and auto-highlight, but as you need to change the highlight symbol/color, just right click and have your alternate choice right there. Instead of traveling over the to the side, or taking up valuable screen space with hightlight pane NEEDING to be visible. I think Bob has suggested a kind of "hotkey" for different colors. Maybe that would work, but for things like precepts, that would be a ton of keys . . .
I do like the MS Word hovering menu you get when you select words . . . that is pretty convenient and cool and efficient.
