With the new UI language Support is there any chance to get bible book names and abbreviations in a localized form?
Yes, there is definitely a chance.
Bible book names (and other data types) are more complicated to localise than the UI (because they involve more code), so we haven't determined yet how we will perform that translation. It may still be through a custom system rather than Crowdin.

We do know how to do it (we've done it for Spanish), but our current process isn't necessarily scalable to dozens of languages.

I think for every book of the Bible, one of the possible abbreviations should be three characters, so
Deuteronomy - Deu ; Ruth - Rut ; Song of S - Sos or Sng ; Joel - Joe ; Amos - Amo ; Obadiah - Oba ; Matthew - Mat ; James - Jam
Most of those work but Deu doesn't and since SIL/UBS uses these 3 character abbreviations, that's imo the best and most brainless way to go. Just asking — not that everyone must abbreviate this way, but that Deu work and each book has at least one possible three character combination.
Deu does work. As does Rut. So apparently the page isn't exhaustive

I think that page is just supposed to be generally informative; it's not documentation on the software.
