New English Bible (NEB) Greek text
Apparently the New English Bible was so idiosyncratic that R. V. Tasker published the underlying Greek text used for the translation, complete with textual notes.

Yes, but didn't Metzger do the same thing for the UBS Greek Text NT (A Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament)? It is not stupid. We only have an 'eclectic text', and this at least would give textual basis for some of the much scoffed at fresh translations in NEB. NEB isn't a perfect translation: what translation is? (Consider the multiple iniquities of NIV, for example, especially in earlier versions.) But it does quite consciously seek to translate the scriptures into language that worked in the ordinary world of the 20th century, rather than language that worked in the church in the 20th century.

Thanks Mark. You can't leaf through much on line, but it seems like a straight Greek text, with no discussion about translation issues. Hence not hugely useful with regard to NEB itself, though OK for those who don't have a straight Greek text (like UBS, or electronic or on-line).
You don't know whether NEB is accessible on line anywhere, do you? Does Logos include it?

Cool, thanks for that. I haven't seen it on line anywhere else. Unfortunately I'm looking for OT - I have an extensive section from Isaiah I want to quote in a paper I'm writing. I'll have to dictate it in, I guess! But thanks again for the link.
