No Download All Button

Unless I am confused, I am missing my "Download All' button. I have resources which I know need to be downloaded (and can be downloaded one at a time), but the button to do this in a batch is missing. Below is the screenshot from Bible! (the most recent version)

I do have this button on iPhone and iPad on the latest edition. Maybe zone restrictions

The only time my "download all" button disappears is when all the resources in the current filtered list are already downloaded.

I take it that your new resources do show up in the iPad library? Can you try filtering the library to the only show the ones you want, and then check to see if the button appears?

    Three things to try:

    1. Kill the app via the multitask bar.
    2. Do a full shut down of the device.
    3. Delete the app and reinstall

I know you know this, but for others who might read later... Deleting the app will mean redownloading all data & resources again.

    Hi Donovan

the "cancel" button suggests a download is already in progress.

Not that cancel button... That is an "erase everything in the search box" button.

I've been able to reproduce this issue.  It appears that downloading a large number of resources can possibly result in a crash, and after restarting the app the Download All (or Cancel Downloads) button will go missing.  However, the downloads will continue - In your screenshot it appears that the spinner icon in the upper left is still going as is the case with me.  If you type "local:" in the Find field (no quotes) and drag down the library a bit, it will show you how many resources are local.  Wait a few minutes and try it again to see if the number is higher.

Can you send us your support info and Cc: kevin (dot) byford (at) logos (dot) com?

I have the exact same problem as Donovan has been experiencing.  It only started after the last app update (3.4.0) which I installed about 2 weeks ago.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and re-downloaded my entire library three times now--without any success.  It takes a lot of time to download 5,800+ resources.  I have been communicating with Tommy Ball at Logos.

Up until the latest version of the Bible! app on my iPad (64Gb) whenever I went into the application I typically was in the "Sort by Title" screen and I pressed the "Download All" button to ensure my library was up-to-date with all the resources downloaded to the iPad.  Now, the "Download All" button does not appear for me in the Libary view with "Sort by Title", "Sort by Recent", or "Sort by Rating".

This is the strange part...the "Download All" button ALWAYS shows up when you "Sort by Author".  This is what I have using to download new resources that I have purchased since the problem arose 2 weeks ago.

<<Donovan, thank-you for your post.  I thought I was the only person with the issue.>>

I know this thread has moved on but I am curious about this

Doesn't the "X" at the right of the search box cancel the input?

I assumed the "Cancel" would do something different?

The spinner icon was a bit of a coincidence in that it does spin for a minute, but then stops.  I had just restarted the application and took the screenshot too quickly.

Examining my library today, there are still a good handful of recently purchased resources that have not downloaded, but can be downloaded one at a time.  What sort of support info do you guys need?

    Thanks for the support.

The "x" will delete all that is in the search field, but will maintain focus. Clicking "cancel" does the same, but removes focus and dismisses the keyboard.

Under the "Account" menu is "help"... You'll find "send support info," which will send logs via email. Make sure to change the email address to the one Kevin gave you.

I have the same issue...  I tried:

    1. Kill the app via the multitask bar.
    2. Do a full shut down of the device.
    3. Delete the app and reinstall

This did nothing to resolve the problem.  [:'(]

I still have no Download All option.

As soon as I launched Logos, the spinner began spinning.

I inserted LOCAL in the search field and immediately one resource, Geisler's Systematic Theology Vol 4 appeared.  I don't know how it had time to download that book so I suspect that something is not quite right.

I removed LOCAL from the search field and the program shut down - crashed.

I restated Logos and noticed that my iPad screen refused to rotate out of portrait mode for about 5 min.

I went back to the Library and inserted LOCAL in the search field and immediately began to see numerous books that indicated they were downloading - that's a good sign, but still no Download All option.

I suspect that somewhere along the way, my initial attempt to Download All...actually sent the request to Logos and it is trying to fulfill that request. I just hope that it completes without crashing as it has in each case previously.  [:S]

James — did you see Kevin's post above?

Not having a "download all" button isn't really a big deal for you... The app is currently fulfilling your original request. Personally, I generally advise against downloading all of ones resources when a user has a large base package. Sometimes the best "fix" for a variety of issues is to delete the app and reinstall... Which isn't a big issue with 50-100 books installed locally. It is a HUGE deal with 1,000+ books! The only time I suggest otherwise is when a user really doesn't have wifi available for long periods of time and needs access to his/her books on their iPad.

Yes, I did... thanks... the problem is that I do want as many of my resources downloaded as possible since I am not always within WiFi access.

I followed all of the suggestions above and have been able to download a goodly portion of my books, but there are many that are downloadable that have not downloaded and don't appear to be trying to download presently. I have no Download All button now so I have to go thru all 2500+ books one at a time to see if they will download. That's a big bummer.

Have you been following the file size to see if it is growing? Is the wheel spinning?

Yes, again, I have followed all the suggestions noted above. I just completed selecting all of the books that had not downloaded, from within my windows version of Logos using the Library option.

There were scores and scores of books that had not been downloaded and I am not referring to books that are not currently downloadable.

After selecting each book from within my pc copy of Logos, I synchronized and then opened up my iPad. It is now apparently downloading those books as the spinner is actually spinning.

Hopefully this will resolve my present issue of wanting all my books on my iPad. As far as the Download All/Cancel All issue, that has not been corrected.

    Thanks...

    Alabama24,

Yes to #1...but I received an email bac from him asking me NOT to send anything to the personal email he listed above.  [^o)]

I will see if I can do that...I haven't figured out how to get a screen shot on my iPad yet, so I am going to have to go search for that...

    Thanks...

I haven't figured out how to get a screen shot on my iPad yet, so I am going to have to go search for that...

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button (on the top edge) and press the Home button (on the front) at the same time.  And then release.  The screen will flash and a click will happen and the screenshot will be saved to your Camera Roll album in your Photos.  If you've got iCloud syncing your Photo Stream with your computer, then the screenshot should shortly appear in the your Photo Stream directory on your computer.

BTW, I usually reduce the size of my iPad screenshots by 50% before posting or sending them (using a photo editor). The Retina display resolution is too large to see easily on normal computer screens.

No need to do that. You can change it in the "insert media" dialog box. The follow two images are identical, but I have changed the second to "Max width" of 300. Besides being quicker, this method also has the advantage of retaining the full sized image. Click on the second image… it will open to its full size.

Good point.  I still use that method for the embedded image since the 50% image is still too large for embedding inline.

I mainly do it because it is much easier for me to annotate and/or crop at the 50% size. Also, when the forum image upload was more of a problem, I was editing the HTML to put the original image inline, and then resizing it using the resizing handle on the image, and using a full Retina resolution image made this unwieldy.

I don't see any practical benefit to keeping it large (other than saving time).  All the text and detail is still visible at 50%.

I agree about an iPad screen shot. I have seen several screen shots recently that were WAY too small.

Yeah, I always upload my desktop screen grabs at full resolutions.  My comments above apply only to Retina iPad.
