L5 Crash after Indexing

I sent an email to tech support, but thought someone might have the answer to what went wrong. I tried starting with the ctrl key twice without any success, saw errors in the two log files but, didn't fully understand what they meant. L5 worked while indexing was in progress, shut L5 down while "first time indexing" was in progress (which finished successfully), then after which L5 repeatedly crashed.

Sorry for your troubles Ralph. If I am not mistaken, you seem to be running 5.0a. Upgrade to the latest patch. htttp://www.logos.com/installation This will not require you to reindex the entire library. If you have not done so, reboot.

Free software such as Advanced System Care may need to be run to help clean up your registry.

I have the latest version

Logos Bible Software 5.1 SR-2 (5.1.0.0963)

After playing around with the "ctrl" key at start-up and using a blank session I am able to open books and do searches, but I lost the ability to open previous layouts, when selecting one, it immediately crashes. Very Odd to say the least. Maybe I'll wait for tech support, since I can use the program this current way, without using previous layouts.

Hi Ralph

Your logfiles are indicating that one of the databases used by Logos is "malformed" / corrupt.

The normal remedy for this it to delete the database which will cause a good copy to be downloaded from Logos servers.

However, the logs you have provided don't show which database is corrupt (at least as far as I can see).

There should also be a logos.log file which should provide more information.

When / if you have another crash please upload the logos.log file (as this is overwritten everytime Logos starts uploading one from a non-crashing session won't help)

More info, in case this happens to someone else.

After having opened L5 with the "crtl" key, I shut it down, rebooted and it opened as expected without crashing right away, but it's not syncing, yet the Kindle works without any problems, and did so while the PC L5 was crashing (this was a blessing when the PC didn't come up, at least I was able to read from my Library). However, the problem with layouts still crashes L5, but it now let's me start L5 after crashing from the selection of a older layout, just fine without having to use the crtl key.

Right, now that it's not crashing, that log doesn't contain any errors... should have saved that one also.

The original crashes were due to corrupt User Preferences but if you are not getting errors/crashes now I would not worry.

Is Logos sync'ing OK? If not upload the logos.log immediately.

Its user preferences, but there is more than one set to choose from!

Delete the folder C:\Users\Ralph\AppData\Local\Logos4\Documents\kd2002ok.sos\LocalUserPreferences and if that does not restore sync'ing delete C:\Users\Ralph\AppData\Local\Logos4\Documents\kd2002ok.sos\UserPreferences.
