Resource updated = Notes lost

Hey All,

Over a period of a few weeks I was taking notes, highlighting, etc. in the book "The Peacemaker". The resource was updated and in the process I lost my ability to open the resource from my previous layout, and also lost all of the highlights that I had put in the book.

Does anyone know if there's a way to transfer the old highlights into the new resource?

"The Peacemaker" was recently updated from Vyrso format to Logos format. In the process, the edition you had was (incorrectly) locked on your account.

The good news is that you now have the Logos edition (for free). The bad news is that your notes and highlights don't transfer to it automatically. I've nopw re-unlocked the Vyrso edition on your account (and it should reappear in your Library, with all your highlights, soon).

If you want, you can choose to hide the Logos edition, or keep both copies in your library.

Does that mean you still have the Note file with the highlights? Is it an ebook from Vyrso as opposed to a Logos resource?

Strange that you lost all highlights as normally they would be shifted or offset in the book.

Dave - this resource migrated from Vyrso to Logos. This process means that (in the eyes of the software) a brand new resource is created. Logos accidentally locked the Vyrso resource in the process. Users should still have the notes file, and when the resource is unlocked, both resources should appear. Highlights will need to be manually created in the new resource if so desired, but should still appear in the old (Vyrso) one.

There isnt any feature within Logos to do this... but you can manually save the file if you want to... But just to clarify... the OP didnt lose his highlights. The note file was safe and sound. The issue was that the Vyrso edition became locked on his account. Once that file is unlocked, the highlights will appear in that resource. They will not, however, appear in the new "logos edition" of that resource. Backing up the notes file will have no change in that behavior. Highlights are resource specific. A Vyrso edition of a resource is separate from a Logos edition. Saving the note file doesnt change that.

Your documents can be found at https://documents.logos.com/ including Notes and any deleted Note files, which can be recovered. You can backup the Logos \Documents folder as a safeguard but you have to be careful about how you recover (not online) - it's best to ask when you really need it, if Logos Support can't otherwise recover it.

This is important to realize, when taking notes in Vyrso resources which are going to be updated.

Bradley, this will happen to me shortly when Thabiti's Finding Faithful Deacons and Elders is converted to Logos. Do I just call or email to keep the Vyrso edition unlocked?

Perhaps it would be better for Logos to recognize when we have notes and automatically keep the Vyrso edition (clearly marked "Vyrso edition" in the title) and then download the new one.

If the name were changed to include "Vyrso Edition," would that cause problems with the notes file? I like the idea if it would work. [Y]

I believe it was unintentional that the Vyrso resource was locked when the Logos edition was unlocked. I have emailed the appropriate people to make sure we're not removing resources from customers who may have taken notes on them.

If you haven't created any notes or highlighting in your Vyrso edition, you'll probably just need to hide it manually (if you no longer want to see it) when the Logos edition comes out.
