Stilltruth and the PBB's have been nuked

I am sorry to say that something has gone wretchedly wrong with stilltruth. The site is currently down taking with it more than a thousand Personal books. Perhaps it was hacked, perhaps it was a simple disk error. Right now I am uncertain.

I am working through the server now to determine the best course of action. Most of the PB's appear to still be there, but inaccessible at the moment.

I do have a FULL backup - so they are not lost, just inaccessible for now.

Let the fun begin.

As for the certainty of the cloud....

If it is stored on a magnetic media, it is vulnerable. If it is stored on paper, it is vulnerable. If it is stored in one location it is doomed to destruction. If you have multiple concurrent backups like me it is restore-able.

I have recovered all of the files (yay for the deeply instilled tendency to backup everything!)

I am now in the process of reconstruction. And I am taking the opportunity to rebuild some key architecture as well.

Yup. I learned it the hard way! I got a laptop stolen once with a decade worth of work data files I have compiled during my career, in addition to many other personal files. I had backed up everything to an external drive. But the drive got stolen with the laptop!

After hours of fighting against what should have been simple server configuration files and a few other tweaks I've finally got an empty site back online. I'm going to take a break to eat dinner and then slowly start repopulating the site.

Huge thanks to Dr. JR Miller for crafting a new site banner for me. More to come.

Sorry to heat about StillTruth being down. If you need a different web hosting provider, give me a holler on Facebook. I'm using a good Christian provider with very affordable unlimited plans.

Additionally, might be nice to eventually move StillTruth to a WordPress/BuddyPress system. I'm having a lot of success with WordPress sites. I think it'd upgrade the site nicely.
