Hey everyone,
I am trying to search for some information on how far the city of Babylon was from the Plains of Dura where the King set up the golden image, but I am finding nothing. When I am doing the search I clicked on the "image" option, and I tried searching just my collection of maps and I got no hits. So I tried searching the entire library and I received no hits. I was searching for "Plain of Dura" and then I tried "Babylon". What am I doing wrong, and what would be your suggestion? Thanks.

Michael, it looks like from a basic search of "Dura" that they don't know where it was located exactly. I don't find it in any of my maps either.

You should get plenty of hits for Babylon in an image search on map, but I wouldn't expect to get results for Dura, when no-one really knows where it is.
But normally, I would use the Bible Facts tool to measure distances between two places. However, in this case Dura is not geocoded (presumably because they don't know here it is), so that doesn't help either.
So in this case, I think you'll have to stick to the information in the Bible Dictionaries.

Not sure about the size of your library and what resources are in it; but I did an image search for "Plain of Dura" and returned 0 hits. Searched Dura and returned 31 hits in 9 resources. Babylon returns 362 hits

I got no hits for maps for "Plain of Dura" but did get hits for Babylon. (Note, I have selected the "Maps" filter in the search field)
If I look at the ISBE entry for Dura it suggests that there is some confusion over where this sight actually is
This might explain why there aren't many (any) maps showing where it is

Mark, I cannot remember how to use the distance measurement. Thanks.Mark Barnes said:You should get plenty of hits for Babylon in an image search on map, but I wouldn't expect to get results for Dura, when no-one really knows where it is.

Michael, you need to use the almost all pink map entitled Biblical World (with the geographical coordinates in the upper RH corner). Put your cursor over one location, hold down the CRTL Key (CMD ion the Mac?) and drag the cursor to the second location.
