The Gospel of John
I attend a Men's breakfast that will be starting on the Gospel of John (did Romans last term and off for the summer). I mostly attend but sometimes step in to teach when the leader's missionary duties take him out of town.
So I am curious - out of all the Logos books what books would you consider essential for teaching about the Gospel of John?

I would recommend Carson's commentary its in the Pillar series.... not sure if this is broken up though...

Andreas Kostenberger has a good commentary on John in the Baker Exegetical series.

I agree with Dan – Wright's two-volume For Everyone commentary is outstanding.

Carson and Kostenberger are essential. Anything that includes Leon Morris and the Gospel of John is also a good place to look.

This depends on the depth of study you as a leader wish to do and the expectations of the group in its depth of study. I would start by trying to have the same commentary the leader has. For in depth study, Carson (PIllar), Kostenberger (BECNT), or Morris (NICNT) would be essential. For a less detailed study and or/lesser expectations of depth, Burge (NIVAC) or Kruse (TNTC) would suffice. Unfortunately neither of the last two, nor Morris, are available separately in Logos.

And, of course, all of the suggestions above (with the exception of Wright, perhaps) are written from a conservative, evangelical persuasion. If that's your thing, the recommendations you've received will be helpful.

Thanks very much for all of the valuable input.
Now the ball is in my court and I will be weighing the suggestions against my finances and make a decision soon. Money is tight but God will provide as He sees fit.
