Highlighting: doesn't appear from desktop highlights

When I'm at church, I have my Android, and I do lots of highlighting. When I get home to my laptop, all the highlights are there--just what I want.
But when I am on my laptop and highlight a passage, today none of those highlights appeared.
These are all word/phrase highlights (not verse highlights) in my ESV.
How can I make sure that highlights I make on my desktop/laptop will appear on my Android?
