Why do I need to submit credit card information to receive the free book of the month? Not needed !

You need a credit card for ID purposes. To make sure the book it's yours, will unlocked into your account and nobody else can claim it's theirs. Your credit card will not be charged a single dime. Trust me, I was not comfortable at first, but then once you know it's for ID purposes only you stop worrying about the "why?"
Be anxious for nothing! [;)]

I say the same as DAL. I few years ago, when Logos was new to me, I began by using a prepaid CC. Logos is a reputable company and you will not find any hidden or sneak attack charges. Free (or $0.00) actually is free and no charges will be made to your CC. In fact, if you do buy something from them, you will find 2 or 3 confirmation steps to ensure that you are clear.
Since free books are obviously a marketing tool, I suspect also that requiring a credit card is a tool for screening the seriousness of potential customers.

Unless you accidentally hit quick buy..

Thanks for pointing that out Dan. I forgot about that button. [:)]
I remember reading in the forum that Logos plans to remove that requirement in the future. They have to rewrite code for that to happen and so it may take awhile.
