I"m looking to find a resource that will list the books of The Bible in chronology order. Is there a resource like this?

(I know that some of the dates are disputed, and some debate when one book was written before or after the other, but still I would like to know if Logos has a resource such as this?)

I "think" I read somewhere that this resource will give you a chronological listing: http://www.logos.com/ebooks/details/STWHYBIB I don't own it, though I have intended to get it sometime, so I am not totally certain.

I forgot to mention that there is a reading plan for Logos v3 to read the Bible through in a year Chronologically, but I haven't seen anything like this yet for v4. If you want the plan for v3, let me know and I'll see if I can find it.

For what it is worth: "So That's Why Bible" from Nelson talks a good deal about the subject.
Formerly titled "The Life and Times Historical Reference Bible" by Cargal, T. B.

The book is written in chronology order ( part NKJV
and part discussion). Again I probably would NOT write my term paper with it but it is a start on the subject.

The Reese Chronological Bible does this but it is not available in Logos. This was published originally in 1977 by Bethany House Publishers. More recently is The Chronological Study Bible by Thomas Nelson Publishers but the dates are not as specific as Resse. Although older I still prefer Reese.

Rick, do you want to know the order of composition of the books? If so almost any study Bible in Logos has a suggested date of composition in the introduction of the book. It is a simple matter to open to the table of contents view and click through each book. Pick the study Bible you have that you think you can trust the dating for and go at it.

Various articles in Bible Dictionaries are also a source of this information. You may even find someone brave enough to create a single list with his/her estimates for the dates of composition. I am not aware of one but there could be one.

If you are looking for information on putting the Bible in chronological order, that is separating material in various books and grouping them by date, then So That's Why Bible does this as well as the chronological reading plan you have been referred to.

I think people in this thread are confusing two different meanings of "chronological order" of the Bible. I think Rick was asking for a listing of when the books were written (at least that's what his parenthetical comment suggests), not what order the events they described happened. The chronological reading plan on the wiki does the latter. Of course in many cases both of these meanings of "chronological" might be the same or overlapping. But, for example, Paul likely wrote at least some of his letters before the book of Acts, describing the journeys he was on when he wrote those letters, was completed.

If I'm wrong and you had the other implication of "chronological" in mind, I read through the Bible once using the One Year Chronological Bible (Tyndale) which arranges the readings chronologically according to when the events took place (interspersing things like psalms according to when they were written -- David's psalms written while he was being pursued by Saul get spliced into those passages in 1 Samuel, for example). It was a very enlightening way to read the Bible. You can view most of the Table of Contents of this chronologically ordered Bible on Amazon.com in the NIV version (the preview goes all the way up to Nov 5, not quite to the end of the year). I haven't taken the time to check whether this order is the same as the chronological reading plan on the wiki.
