Can anyone enlighten me as to the strategy of having the lowest CP price option as being only 40% off for this resource? I realize that there is a danger of having bid options that are too low because the resource can get stuck but personally I would prefer lower bidding options for this and for other recently offered CP resources.

Presumably, this is because Logos feels that this resource would fit into a certain niche, which would require a higher price point to go into production. It does seem a bit high. I think I'll pass. [;)]
(Of course, it could just be a mistake too. [:P])

That is totally the danger of not having low enough bidding options.
I agree... unless Logos really has a good feel for this resource. There may be strong demand for it in the Mid $20 range... I guess we will see. Personally, I don't think I would be interested in it at $10.

I would give $10 for it. [*-)] I might even give $24.
I also believe that "niche" that is doing a paper on the Puritans would gladly give $24.
Not for a book with such an offensive title!
"The Puritan in Holland, England, and America"?! What about the rest of the Netherlands? What about Scotland and Wales? What about Ireland?
Fortunately, according to the table of contents the author doesn't limit his account to Holland and England, but even so I'm not going to spend $24 on this book.

I hate to admit it, but until reading this and then Googling I thought Holland & the Netherlands were synonymous names [:$] .
I have a nasty suspicion that I am not alone. Every day is a learning day!
Unfortunately too often we forget about that. And sometimes we are "forced" to. I remember about a dozen years ago when I mailed something to Wales, the local US Post Office insisted that I put "ENGLAND" at the bottom of the address since they claimed that was the official country as far as their processing was concerned...
At least it got there.
And sometimes we are "forced" to.
There are languages, e.g. Hungarian, in which I'm forced to say that I'm from Holland. But fortunately English isn't one of these languages!
Googling .... Holland & the Netherlands
Watching this Youtube video, I learned that there are municipalities in the Kingdom of the Netherlands that use the U.S. dollar as official currency.
Every day is a learning day! [:)]

this kind of defeats the purpose of CP for me. 40% off is what public domain works often go for in PP.

Why did logos placed $56 as the highest increment. Who in the world would beat higher then the purchase price?
Apparently Logos just changed the bidding grid from $12 to $44.
It has been adjusted! The highest increment is now $44 and the lowest $12:
Edit: Super Tramp was faster.
It still begs the question; Who would bid $44 if the regular selling price is $39.95?
Former British Prime Minister Gladstone sounds like he would pay it!![:D]

Wow, that was a quick response. Thank you Logos! To me this makes much more sense and will encourage many more people to participate.
Very true!
Yep and more
Is it worth everyone lowering their bids so that we try to re-set the CP guide price - and hopefully encourage others to join at a lower price?
I'm in at $12. Six bucks per volume for a public domain work is still a little high IMO.

Wow! Thank you for that link, although the narrator was definitely not from the SouthEast US. We can't speak that fast and can barely hear that fast [:D]
Still remember the beauty of Rotterdam, although the visit was short and more than 50 years ago (1957 courtesy of the US Navy).
To remain on topic. I paced my bid at $20 which is likely the maximum I am will to pay for this resource.
At $12 a volume, this had better be a pretty special public domain offering. Anecdotally, it seems the base price of some CPs has increased over recent months.
I am also in at $12. I agree it is a little bit steep for two volumes, however, it is a subject which interests me. In which case, if I get it at this price, I will be happy (because I will enjoy reading the thing).
Blessings,
[:D]
