This is actually one of the most popular Community Pricing titles -- it's number four in number of bids on listed CP titles!

At $10 it's a great deal on four information-packed volumes, full of interesting stories and hymn backgrounds.

But since almost all our active CP bidders are on board, it's not likely to make it soon at $10.

At $12, $14, or even $20 it is still a great deal -- and getting over the line could help re-start the momentum. (If it did as well as our most-subscribed CP titles ever, it could go for $5...but few titles hit that level. Getting back to $10 isn't unreasonable, though, if it gets some momentum.)

It's unlikely to make it with lower bids (and probably needs higher bids), so this scale doesn't seem too far off -- we don't need notches lower than it has, but having the bids move up would help.

There are numbers of us that are becoming more and more frustrated with community pricing bids, and the lack of progress on the more expensive complex items, some of which are probably dead in the water. I think that there are unrealistic expectations by many as to what is required to get some of these items into production, which impacts where a peak is established and thus the subsequent bids. There is also the reluctance of bidders to raise their initial bids when the bidding stalls. Much of the bidding I suspect is based not on what they would ultimately pay, or what it is worth to them, but what they hope they can get if for. I think that it may be time for Logos to rethink and modify the entire bidding process.

My sentiments exactly, Robert. I know from my own bidding that when I see an established peak, I just evaluate that price and make the decision of bid-or-not-bid. I do not spend the mental energy of evaluating what my maximum price actually would be.

With the current system as soon as a peak is established, pretty much nothing can change it. Not even an appeal by Bob Pritchett seems to have made a dent in the bidding curve.

As others have said, this is a great idea that would really help establish a true user-based price. On the other hand I think many will be unsure how much to bid if there is not any guidance to base their bid.

Which is not necessarily a bad thing. I'd say that's the point; that it forces them to think about it and make a decision based on how much they would pay to get it rather than blindly follow the herd so to speak. That's the intent. But for those who would not bid at all if no indication exists as to the going amount (so called guidance) then they will want to wait until the product reaches 30% (or a similar number).

I'd say that there might be bidders who would put in the least amount automatically if the going rate is blinded; but I'd argue that they are in the minority and once the suggested rate is shown, many would reconsider. In all, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense to me.
