BHS Lemma tagging question (problem) in Psalm 78:56 and elsewhere

The BHS has the word וְ֝עֵדוֹתָ֗יו in Psalm 78:56 tagged as 1.n from עֵדָה rather than from עֵדוּת. This is not a singular occurrence, but happens 19 times throughout the Psalms, particularly in Psalm 119. However, the BHS also has 15 occurrences of עֵדוּת in the Psalms, including 9 times in Psalm 119. This seems to be a mistake (they seem to have largely made the distinction based on whether the word with pronomial suffixes uses a holem or holem-vav). Double clicking on the word where it is tagged incorrectly does link correctly to HAL however, but it impacts searches.

Is this a mistake, or a genuine point of contention about the root being used?

Which version of the Hebrew Bible are you looking at? I'm guessing it's one of the older Westminster versions, but I didn't check all the Hebrew Bibles. We do have newer Westminster data that generally lines up more closely with HALOT's lemmatization, but I'm waiting for word from publisher relations that we're good to go for releasing it (some contract review is going on). But LHB, LHI, SESB and BHS/WIVU all have this as עֵדוּת.

    Vincent,

Thanks for the response. I'm using the BHS with Westminster 4.2. I'm glad to hear there are some updates pending. Thanks for the info about the other versions to think about.
