Crash: Logos 5 on Mac Crashes After Seconds of Start

This just started this morning (August 26, 2013). After Logos 5 (for Mac) has started up and running for about 5 seconds, it crashes. I get a crash report from Mac and I have attached the Logo Logging Utility report. I can click on anything after it starts or do absolutely nothing. Either way, it crashes around the same time.

I'm taking a look at your logs, but they may be beyond my ability. Have you tried loading to a blank layout? Press and hold the command key immediately upon startup... check the appropriate box.

Were you using the Holman Treasury of Key Bible Words when it last worked?
The two interesting lines in the logs to me are:
- 08/26/2013 08:29:09 | ERROR | 25 | ApplicationUtility | SQLite Error 11: database corruption at line 52353 of [c0e09560d2]
- 08/26/2013 08:29:09 | ERROR | 25 | ApplicationUtility | SQLite Error 11: statement aborts at 12: [select RecordId , ResourceDriverName, Image, Version, IsAvailable, IsHidden from Records where ResourceId='LLS:HLMNKYBBLWDS';]
It appears that a db file has possibly become corrupt... but I don't know which one to tell you to delete. The second line refers to the Holman resource.

Yes alabama24, I tried starting with a blank layout using the command key. But it didn't resolve the issue. What will deleting database files do to help? Will I lose my products?

Don't do anything without explicit instructions! You could really mess things up, have to redownload everything, and be no better of for having done so! [:S]
Crashes most often happen due to either a bug or a corrupted database file. If the issue is a bug, typically you have to wait for a fix to be provided in a service release or use a "work around" if available (i.e. "Don't open the ESV RI until the service release comes out".) If the issue is a corrupted database file, the fix is often to delete it and let Logos rebuild it. Depending on the file, this could mean a few second fix to many hours of reindexing your library.
Sometimes the logs are very clear about which .db file is "malformed." I did not find what I was looking for... I could guess but I'm not. I'd rather wait for someone with more tech credentials than me to provide instruction. Hopefully it will be soon. [:)]

Hello Jacob,
Thanks for posting your logs. I apologize for the trouble you're experiencing. From what I can gather, it appears there may be some corruption in your "Metadata" or LibraryCatalog. We store important information from each book in your library under this database; things like Author, Publisher, Book Cover, etc, but if that information is corrupted or interrupted during the "Preparing" stage, it could cause the problem you're experiencing.
LibraryCatalog can be regenerated by simply deleting it. I'd suggest trying that.
- Open Finder.
- Click on Go > Go to Folder.
- Enter path: ~/Library/Application Support/
- Open the Logos folder.
- Open the Data folder.
- Open the seemingly random-named folder.
- Locate the "LibraryCatalog" folder and rename it "LibraryCatalogOLD"
- Retry Logos.
Logos will need to "Prepare" for several minutes while the database is rebuilt, but hopefully that fixes the problem. If it does, you can delete the "LibraryCatalogOLD" folder. If it does not, please contact Support directly for further assistance (www.logos.com/contact).

That did the job. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Allen
You might try opening to a blank layout. Hold down the 'Command' key while opening.
In general it is best to start a new thread and post logs if you are having trouble. There should be a link in my signature line with instructions.

That is not surprising: this thread is several months old. Taking someone else's medicine is rarely a good idea.
Since you're on Mac and this has happened to many people today, try the following:
- Start Logos with the Cmd key pressed down.
- When the dialogue box appears, choose Offline mode.
- When Logos is open, click on the little gear-wheel at the bottom left of the Home Page and uncheck Verse of the Day.
- Restart normally to get back to online mode.
If that doesn't work, you should start a new thread.

I posted this also under another link but I tried the suggested procedure and it did work. Thanks! Sorry for the lack of posting "etiquette" but I have used tech forums very few times, and usually with long absences between uses, so I am not as adept at it as I should be.
