I think we need to learn to bite our tongues when we see authors/positions represented that we don't like.
Logos publishes lots of material from people with whom I disagree, but I have only written a review on one. If you don't want the resource, then do not purchase it, but have some respect for others who may disagree with you and believe the resource is worth-while.
non sequitur.
Logic becomes apparent when worded differently (If I may indulge):

3. Have some respect for others who believe the resource is worth-while, and may disagree with you. Thanks for the clarification Paul. Thought it was odd that Dean063 considered it a fallacy for me to agree with him [^o)]

I thought you were disagreeing with me!! Hence I thought it a non sequitur since I hadn't said anything to warrant that response. Thanks for clarifying. [:#]

FWIW - There is a book on the other side of the issue that addresses issues raised in the above mentioned book. The book is by Dr. Michael Brown and is titled: "Authentic Fire". I recommend it highly and would like to see it in Logos. It is helpful to see how he respectfully disagrees with those cited above. His research and handling of the subject matter is commendable. For those who would be interested, a good answer to "Strange Fire".

Yes, I know. Thank you for posting the link to that thread.
I thought it might be helpful to mention (I hope, in a non-adversarial tone) Dr. Brown's book in this thread.

A review turns into a debate when the person reading the review disagrees with your opinion.

I listened and watched in online. It was a scholarly presentation of biblical facts pertaining to the subject. At times, it veered to personal snide remarks, but for the most part a good grounded biblical presentation.

i think Craig Kenner nails down all my concerns of MacArthurs selective use of history, and Biblical misuse. I would not attribute MacArthurs work as scholarly. Here is the link:

Interesting article. Being a cessationist, I naturally did not agree with all his points. However, his critique of MacArthur's book is spot on.

Both Michael Brown and Craig Keener take apart MacArthur's premise, imho. What's really funny to me is that they are both far more "Sola Scriptura" on this issue than MacArthur is, even though that's his rallying cry all the time. But not on this issue. I think "Authentic Fire" should be added to Logos immediately as a counter-balance to "Strange Fire."
