Bible search question...

With Logos 3, if I wanted to find all the occurrences of all morphs of a Gk word (for example), I would just use the "Bible search" option, enter the Gk word I wanted and the resource, and it would give it all to me.

Yesterday I tried to do the same thing with Logos 4 and came up empty. I tried it with "basic", "Bible" and "morph" in the search menu, and I tried it by entering the Gk word and the word in Latin characters after the "g:". Nothing.

What am I doing wrong???

I use OneNote to capture images on my screen, but this method will work if you don't have a program designed to do it.

Method 1:

What you want to do is search "Bible" and choose your Greek Bible, or reverse interlinear.

Then start typing the word you want to look up: for example g:agap (notice no space between g: and the word I want to look up)

As you start typing you should see a list of Greek words start to show in a drop-down list.

Choose one of those words and then hit Enter to run your search.

Method 2:

As you are looking through your Greek Bible or reverse interlinear, right click on the word you're interested in searching.

Then left-click on "Lemma" on the right of the box that pops up.

Then left-click on "Search this resource" and it will do just what it says.

To post a picture reply to a thread using the Reply button near the top of the post (not the Quick Reply link).

Then look for the paper-clip on the second line, third from left (same line as the smiley face).

Click the paper clip and search your HDD for the file you want to upload.

Okay,

I think I know what's going on.

What you want to do is search for a lemma, since the way you're searching will only find the exact spelling here.

The easiest way to do this is use Method 2. Since the search syntax for this search looks like this:

<Lemma = lls/el/ἀγαπάω>

I get 143 results in the NA27 for this search.

I still have not seen a complete list of syntax search variables in L4, so until then, this is kind of hit and miss. This is why I prefer Method 2 most of the time.
