Stuck on "Preparing Library" after an update

Has anyone else been having this problem.  The last few times Logos 5 software automatically updated and I let it restart...I just get the "Preparing Library" box that goes on and on.  The last couple of times I had to restart the whole computer twice before Logos finally opened.

I recently got a Windows 8 computer and wondered if that had anything to do with it.  I don't remember it doing this on my last computer.  I don't really like Windows 8, but it is what I now have.

Can anyone fix this...it is very, very irritating.

My solution assumes you have been getting updates and it's not waiting for weeks or months of updates, in which case the wait could be legitimate - 

What I do - Ctrl-Shift-Esc to bring up the task manager - hit the Processes tab - select any Logos or Logos Indexer image names, and click End Process for each. When they are all ended, then run Logos again. I bet it will come up fine and this saves restarting your computer.
