Bug in Search CUV

Hopefully some of our other Chinese speaking users will be able to verify this issue... I am wondering if there is an issue with your bible index. Have you tried the command Rebuild Bible Index ? This will take a little while to finish indexing.

There is bug in this new LOGOS 5.1a SR-1 (Mac version). I cannot search words in CUV which I could use this feature before all the time. To search in Window version will not have any problem.
Daniel,
I can confirm the issue that you have reported for Logos 5.1a SR-1, For my case for both Mac and Windows Version. See my screen shot, only single Chinese Character works. String or multiple words searches all failed. I recalled some of us reported something like that in 2010 and was fixed.
By the way, the problem also occurs with Logos for Windows

Daniel - Since LimJK seems to be having the same issue in Windows, can you verify which version you are using on Windows? NOTE: Logos released 5.1a, very shortly followed by 5.1a SR-1.

My window version is Window 7 v 6.1 Service pack 1. This is old version. It works to search words in CUV. I also found my other new version window laptop cause the same problem as LimJK.

I didn't mean what version of windows, but rather which version of Logos?

Can you paste the characters you're searching for into a reply as plain (Unicode) text, not an image?

藐視

You may try the following sentence as a search material, one character or two characters.
願賜平安的上帝親自使你們全然成聖

It is noted that
1) if there is only one Chinese Character, then the search is OK. e.g. 聖 or 靈
2) if one add a space between each Traditional Chinese Character, then the search will found both words as separate words and displayed the words either alone or together e.g. 聖 靈, it will display all verses with either 聖 or 靈 or 聖靈
3) if there is no space between each Chinese Character, then the search fails. e.g. 聖靈
I am using Logos 5.1a SR-1 on Mac

Hi,
There was a very old (early 2010) discussion on this here (I thought it was fixed): http://community.logos.com/forums/p/11647/94858.aspx#94858
Bradley,
Just a thought ... wouldn't it be easier for you to open one of the Chinese Bible (Traditional or Simplified), right mouse click on word(s) and launch a search from there. By the way what Daniel and Timothy keyed in are in Traditional Chinese ... so don't use it to search Simplified Chinese Bible [:)]

I open CUV(traditional) and right click the word for 該隱. It works. But try 耶和華 and it does not. Why?

Daniel,
Sorry ... seems to be working for me now for both Traditional and Simplified CUV ... Logos 5.1a SR-2. I have tried with even longer strings. However, I observed that sometimes Logos adds quotes "該隱." as a string, sometimes they don't 耶和華 (?)
How did you setup your search panel, mine is default as follows (not sure if it matters):

Daniel,
Have you tried putting quotes around "耶和華" to see if it makes any difference. For me with or without quotes, Logos seems to concatenate multiple words as a string when searching.

Hi JK,
With or without quote the result is the same.

Hi JK,
For "該隱" and 該隱 will work regardless quotes.

Daniel,
I have the same right mouse click context menu screen that you see ...
The "Lookup", "Lookup in a new tab", "Power Lookup" and "Bible Word Study" as expected, produces nothing ... so, may be it should not be in the context menu at all. ... Or [:)] may be something new is coming ... like LCV in Chinese [:)]

I hope LOGOS can solve this problem soon. I use this function daily.

Do you guys only have the Traditional Character CUV on your computer, or do you also have the simplified? If so, could you accidentally be searching the simplified version?

I have same issue with my Windows 8 Laptop. Only some words like places can be searched, but all these others (even common words like "教会" could not be searched. There are just no results returned.

Update:
I find I can't search phrases in Chinese, like search "在我这里" will return nothing. But search "在&我&这&里" will get correct result.

"在我这里" is working fine for me.

Update: Still does not work on my computer.
Only works when you search at Bible tab.

Daniel,
looks like some of us are unable to reproduce the issue you faced. May be you should capture a log, so that the tech people can see what is happening.

if I use the search in the Search Tab
耶和華 does not work, but 耶和 will give the places where 耶和華 occur.
I try 亞伯拉罕 it does not work, 亞伯 does not work either, when I search 該隱 only give me the occurrence in the New Testament.
But use command window
該隱 has all the occurrence in Old and New Testament, all other failed with the same result as Search Tab.
My Logos version is 5.1a SR-2 (5.1.1.0623) , I am using Traditional Chinese version of the CUV, RCUV has the same problem.
Logos what can we do to help you to debug is bug.
God bless,

Now just updated to Logos 5.1b.
Things have not changed.
Still could not search words in combination such as 聖靈 or 耶穌 or 耶和華 etc. One needs to separate the individual character with a space. Then problem fixed.
But strangely enough, the one quoted above, 該隱 ,works. This time, no space in between is needed. Same for some names such as 約伯, 參孫. No space, still works. But not 約瑟.
Any help!

I already phoned LOGOS technical people to solve this kind of problem. It seems like they do not pay too much attention for this kind of error.
