Logos Not Running in Windows 8

Logos won't run on my windows 8 machine. I did a clean install on a newly loaded version of windows 8. All programs and windows are on a SSD. I see the Logos splash screen after I run Logos. Then it disappears and the login screen never appears. Looking at the task manager, the logos task appears and then goes away and is not in the list of running tasks. Attached is the log file. But it doesn't show any errors. I've tried uninstalling logos and reinstalling it. And I've tried repairing it from the control panel. Neither worked.

For clarification... Did you enable logging? Are you familiar with that process? Also the logs say something about "compatibility mode." I'm not a windows user... Is there an XP compatibility mode or something?

This is a very unusual error that I've not seen before. Can you see what shows up in the event viewer for the time of the crash? Can you try and run Logos with your virus checker disabled (just in case that's interfering).

Do you have AMD video drivers that were recently updated? If so, they are known to be incompatible with Logos 5 (see this thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/74067/520458.aspx#520458). Please call our, or AMD's, tech support line for assistance.

Heavy sigh. So if I finally nibble and get an 8.1 Tablet, it may not work?

why do you say that? Does it have an AMD video driver too?

My reply was phrased overly broadly. We have had reports of crashes with some video driver versions for some AMD video cards (and I don't know which one or ones, sorry). AFAIK, it's not a problem that affects most--or even many--AMD video cards. (If it were, this forum would be full of crash reports, because a lot of people have AMD cards.)

@ Bradley: Good call on the driver! Updated my AMD driver to the latest from AMD, now I can log in, get the home page and now downloading resources. Things should work from there. The driver that was installed was what Microsoft deemed as the lastest driver, could have been just the latest signed driver they have. It was the default Windows loaded or downloaded after installing windows. Just in case it may help you or others, below are more system details.

@alabama: I did enable logging by holding CTRL down.

@ Mark: with virus checker disabled I still had the issue

@JoshlnRI: No reason it shouldn't run on the tablet. I've had it running on Windows 8 before as others have. This is the only major issue I've encountered.
