Timeline question about the life of Jesus

Matthew 12-13 and Mark 4-5 appear to record a single long, action-packed day in the life of Jesus that includes:

1- Walking through wheat fields and confronted by religious leaders
2- Rejection of Jesus as Messiah by the Jewish leadership ("unforgivable sin")
3- Intense teaching session about the kingdom through the initial use of parables to hide biblical truth from the unrepentant Jewish leaders
4- Crossing the sea of Galilee
5- Calming the storm
6- Casting out a legion of demons from a man and commissioning him to be what appears as the first recorded "sent one" o or kingdom ambassador (little "a" apostle)

The repeated use of "that same day" and "on that day" makes this narrative seem to be like a single, long day for Jesus. Almost like Jack Bauer in the TV show 24. :-)

I have two questions:

1) Is there textual evidence to show this is NOT events from a single day?
2) Is there evidence that somebody other than the Legion dude was sent first as Jesus' kingdom ambassador?

Any help is appreciated.

                   I'm glad, personally, that you've posted and queried quite an interesting circumstance.              You raise a couple of questions that I've never considered before even though I'm quite an old guy!              

              For the next day or two I'm going to study those two Scriptural Passages; and -- if I find anything that I think might be interesting and helpful to others -- I'll post it in this thread!
