Logos 4 - Update Failure 9/10/13

I received a note when I opened Logos 4 this evening that there was an update being installed for my Logos 4 program. As the installation was occurring, my security software (Trend Micro Internet Security) let me know that a file that was being installed by the program, HEU_AEGISCS701, had been quarantined and deleted. Logos 4 now no longer works on my computer.
Does this require me to now remove Logos 4 to then reinstall it? Is there something else that can be, or needs to be done?

I don't recognise the name of that file ("HEU_AEGISCS701", perhaps it's the name of a virus scanner heuristic?), but it sounds like Trend Micro has removed a file that Logos 4 requires in order to run.
Reinstalling probably won't help; Trend Micro will quarantine the file again. You will need to find the "Quarantined Files" section in Trend Micro and restore anything that looks related to Logos 4. (Sorry, I don't have more detailed instructions on how to do this.)
Alternatively, you can temporarily disable Trend Micro, open Control Panel to "Add or Remove Programs", find Logos 4, right-click and "Repair" it. This should allow Logos 4 to repair its files without being intercepted by the virus scanner.
One final option (if you're running Windows Vista or later) is to install the free version of Logos 5 from http://www.logos.com/installation. Again, make sure to temporarily disable Trend Micro before you install it.

Went with the last option you mentioned. It worked very well. I was not aware there was a free version of Logos 5. What is the difference between what I had on v.4 and the free v.5?
Thanks for the help!

The free Logos 5 download adds a number of new free features (see http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_5.0#New_Features_.28free.29 as well as the Release Notes for 5.0a, 5.0b, 5.1 and 5.1a), performance optimisations, and many bug fixes. (But you won't get the new features advertised as part of the Logos 5 base packages, since they depend on additional data sets). A few items in the UI have been rearranged, but you should find it substantially similar to Logos 4.
One final benefit is that you can use the "Logos 5" forum, which has a lot more active users, if you have any additional questions.
