FORCE QUIT 5.1a SR1: CPU at max, unable to quit normally

I ran back and forth to the computer for a while last night, without paying much attention. When I began doing so again, I suddenly became aware that the CPU was running at absolute maximum, the temperature was at 82°C, and the fan was working overtime, and this had already been going on for half an hour or so.

Of course it was Logos, doing I don't know what (nothing I had told it to do, anyway). I shut a tab or two. No difference. I tried to quit. Endless syncing or whatever, with no result. So I had to force quit.

I'm sending the logs by mail. I see a number of errors in them, at many different places, but none of them means anything to me.

I kinda have teh same problem. I can use Logos, but while it's opened but the indexing going on, it's usually at or around 100% CPU

I've spoken with a developer on this issue, and we will need more information to pin down the problem.

The next time the program hangs or you notice this CPU temp spike, if you could open the Logos Logging Utility and click the "Sample" button, including that sample will tell us what your CPU is doing. You can also "Create Sample Process" from the Activity Monitor.

This info is beyond what is in the normal log file, so please include the sample in any CPU or hang issues you report.

Sorry, I should have known/remembered that, but it was past midnight, I believe, and I was rather tired.

I think this was the first time I had this particular combination of issues. Mostly lately I've had the opposite issue: getting a 'Logos unexpectedly quit' message when opening, although, as far as I could tell, the quitting was perfectly normal, and certainly ordered by me. Plus the usual odd crash every now and then, of course.

We have shipped a possible fix for this issue in 5.1a SR 2. If you experience it again, please let us know and we will investigate further.

Unfortunately, I did experience it within minutes of downloading SR2. Even more unfortunately, I was at the first stage of indexing, so I can't say for sure if the CPU was unnaturally high, but I think it was. I was trying to quit again, to get some more RAM for the second stage, but realized after some minutes that it was stuck again. And most unfortunately, I forgot not only the samples, but even the logs...[:$]

I suggested some time ago that you should help both yourselves and us by always keeping the last three or so logs, instead of overwriting them directly. I don't know if anyone ever read that suggestion, but this seems like a good time to revive it...[:)]
