Question: Why does reindexing require a lot of downloading

I reindexed my Logos 4 Mac library after executing the merge command was disastrous. I noticed a couple of things in the log:

There was a lot of downloading going on. Is this normal? I should have been up to date! See log:

2. There are a lot of warnings for invalid references in my library. Is this because things need to be retagged for L4?

The Syncmanager downloads are little more than pings against the sync server and /or uploads and downloads to it.

The UpdateManager downloads are updated resource items.

The Ignored references are either for references to resources you don't own, or perhaps as you state, flawed tags.

Perhaps (can you tell I'm only guessing?) it's not merely a ping but a comparison is going on. That at least would account for the time.
