Forum: Ugly borders around Logos / MVP icons on IE
Since about a week or so (but maybe longer) there are ugly blue borders around the icons indicating Logos employees and MVPs in the Forum.
I see them consistently on IE 9 (more specifically Version 9.08112.16421) but not on my usual Chrome browser, but maybe you can make them go away...

Not really, since I seem to recall this was no problem some few days ago. It's only an IE problem (some seem to claim another browser, too) in the sense that this browser reacts differently than others to the same code on a website, but then it could be argued that the site code was not interoperable enough to prevent this.
From my google results it seems to be an issue with the style sheets used on the website, probably caused by using an icon as a link. - This made me click on it (who would have thought about that) and I found what Logos did: the company icon and the MVP star are now links to to a page that displays a search result in the forum user database for all current Logos employees / MVPs. No idea if this is really new or if this worked for longer and just the CSS was updated recently.

Browsers all used to do this but no more - it made sense when images were simple, and there needed to be a visual cue for users. The reason browsers don't largely do it any more is that the images that can be links (which is what causes this) are much more sophisticated and rich in their display now, and are more the norm. IE is just still doing it the old way. It's likely that, since other browsers have not had this as the default for so long, Logos has no web developers who use IE and old enough to know it used to be a different default! But it's an easy fix.

BTW, IE lags seriously behind the others in HTML and CSS compliance. I am on Chrome 29, so this first link only tests to Chrome 28; but you get the idea:

I thought IE died when Logos stopped supporting it.

I think I remember from other discussions here that Logos uses testers on a variety of browsers - at least they should (and since Bob loves statistics, I'm sure they know the percentage of IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari.... users).
Since our avatar pictures are links as well without these borders, it seems it's just a missing line in the CSS. Hope they fix it soon.
